Woke up later this morning as I didn’t get to sleep until 23:30 ish and I am on call tonight so I have a bit later start to make up for that and also to make up for not taking lunch when I am in the office on Mondays!
When I got up I did my weigh-in and I am dropping weight again as I am down from 107.8kgs to 107.2kgs. I was at 107.5kgs at the start of the year so at this moment in time I have lost 0.3kgs for the year! I am still quite a bit heavier weight this year of 105.1kgs but I can feel that with all the BMX training I am starting to cut fat and build muscle again and I can feel that my legs, shoulders, arms are getting more muscular and more defined and my torso is definitely losing blubber with every day that I train! When I wake up in the mornings now my stomach and love handles are way smaller than they are the rest of the day so I am getting there slowly.
I am going to start sprints this lunchtime so that will also help with the fat burning but I need to really cut out fizzy drinks again and start to work on improving my diet if I am going to be able to get anywhere near my weight loss goal by December 31st!
It is getting really dark early now so I don’t think that it will be too long before the evening Training sessions have to stop so I can then start doing calesthetics and weights in the evenings and move the BMX training to lunchtime which will kick start the weight loss in full force! So if I can get my diet and fizzy drink habit in check before then I should be able to get in shape pretty quickly!
On a positive note, although my weight hasn’t dropped significantly recently my fitness has improved no end to the point where I can manage full lap pump laps without being totally wiped out and unable to breath so over the winter I want to slowly build up the amount of full burner laps that I do during my on track workouts so that I increase my fitness and also burn as much fat a possible. I also need to keep on top of the walking in the mornings too as that really helps with the fat burning and overall weight loss.
From tomorrow I want to get back to getting up at 5am and walking for an hour or so before work to try and get back in the habit of walking every morning again as it is beneficial in so many ways not just for weight loss and fat burning which I have been focusing on mostly but the mental and fitness benefits are the benefits that. I should be focussing on as they are way more important for me than body composition and weight are!
I need to start looking at walking as a being for increasing Flexibility, reducing the effects of sitting a lot on my body and also stress control then I will put more importance on doing it while I am training a lot. Other wise I will stop doing it like I did last winter 🙁
As its pitch black at 5am again I will switch to my winter walking route around town instead of the 2 tunnels as the 2 tunnels is pitch black as it has no lighting where as there are street lights in town! The town loop is also longer so I get more than 10000 steps in doing the loop anyway so it makes hitting the 12000 steps a day target pretty easy and makes it way more achievable than it would otherwise be.
So my plan going forwards for the week (Mon-Fri) is:
Wednesday Full rest day.
5-6:30 – Walking
12-2 – Track/ Sprints
18-20 – For the next month – Mon, Tue, Thur Coaching, Friday Gates
18-20 -Mon and Friday – Kneesovertoes, Tue and Thur – Upper body weights.
I will need to work in some stretching to help with the muscle soreness and also improve performance but I will give it a couple of months before I add that into my routine.
Weekends I am going to wake up early still and then get the walking done early and then get to the track after walking on Saturday’s and try and do a pump track on Sunday morning early to just have some fun riding the bike and work on my skills in a non focussed way.
With Wednesday being a full rest day and Saturday and Sunday being more or less active rest I think that my body should be able to cope OK with the training load over the winter.
Track Training I will do the following sprint sessions:
Monday = No Track as in the office
Tuesday = Flat Sprints
Wednesday = No Track as rest Day
Thursday = Flat Sprints
Friday = Full laps
Saturday = Coaching and Gates
Sunday = Fun Track, Pump Track day.
This evening I have been trying to get the Profile Spider to fit on the GT cranks but it doe not fit! So I went on facebook market place and I have bought 2 x FSA Sprockets for £30 one 36t and one 42t so I can use the 36t for now and then next week when I get paid I can get an 18T Halo clickster freewheel and then I can run the 42×18 gearing on there so it is basically the same gearing as a 37×16 which I was planning to run.
I like the sprocket as it means that I can run the same cranks that I have on there for now so it means that U can leave the bike locked up and not worry about it being stolen which is ideal for a ride about town bike 🙂
The more posh shinny parts it has on it the more it attracts attention and the more likely it is to get stolen!
For now I have put the S&M Redneck Stem and some headset spaces and a fork cap on the bike and put the S&M bars back on the bike for now and the ODI Vans grips so the bike is starting to look like a bike!
I also found a GT quick release seat clamp in my parts box so that is now on the bike as well. The guy I bought the Sprockets off will post them tomorrow so they should be here Saturday or Monday at the latest!
I also think that the seat post that came with the bike may be long enough that I don’t need my cooldown seat and post on there which is great as they are worth almost as much as I paid for my bike its self!
I haven’t had any updates about the handlebars so I’m guessing that they will get here next week too!
