Weigh-in

weigh-in

This morning I was up at 5am and did my weigh-in before I had my shower. I was shocked to see that I am up to 109.8kgs which tells me that I need to stop drinking Coca Cola again and also start exercising more πŸ™‚ This is the heaviest that I have been all year so I definitely need to sort it out and try and drop weight again ASAP!

My shoulder is feel better so I will try and do a longer flat road bike Saturday morning to see how it feels and if its OK I will get the smart trainer setup and start doing an hour a day on it!

The bits I ordered to sort the Jump bikes out should be here before 4pm today so I will be able to get them built up this evening and I can ride into work and back tomorrow and Friday to get rid a bit of weight too.

So the breaker bar arrived at 3pm and the cranks were off by 3:05pm. This again proves that having the correct tools for the job is the way to go! Last night I was literally standing on the allen key with all my weight and theΒ  bolt would not budge. With the correct tool (24″ breaker bar with an 8mm allen key head) I was able to free the bolt using my injured shoulder and minimal force πŸ™‚

I have now got the 175mm cranks with the 32t sprocket on it on the raw Airdrop (My Bike) and the 170mm cranks with the 28t sprocket on the Matt Black bike (my son’s bike) and I am just going to put the chain on my son’s bike now and dial in the rear wheel so that I can ride to work on it tomorrow morning. I am still waiting for the KMC chain that I bought from Wiggle to arrive so that I can build my bike up to have a go on it at the weekend πŸ™‚

I also noticed that the crank pre-loader on my cranks doesn’t tighten-up any more so I have bought a replacement metal one by Cane Creek which is metal not plastic and is supposed to be much better than the original.

Screenshot 2022 11 16 at 16.14.30If the pre-loader works a lot better then I will also get one for my Son’s bike as well but I need one for my bike anyway as the cranks will not tighten up very much!

I am also thinking about getting Tubolitos on my bike as well to drop a bit more weight to make the bike feel a bit more like a race BMX instead of a mountain bike. I know when I put the Tubolito’s on my race BMX the difference was amazing so I am hoping that I will get the same affect on the Jump bike.

My Son’s bike is now super dialled in with the 28×11 gearing on it and I also rerouted the brake hose so that it was the same as the Airdrop built Fade Works which really has made the brake night and day better than it was before. It has gone from constantly rubbing to a freely spinning wheel.

I will be interested to see how different the gearing will be compared to the 32×16 that I have been using on it for the past 2-3 weeks. I am expecting it to be harder but that may actually be better for riding to work as my race gearing is a bit spinny really. so maybe a harder gearing will be better. If not I can put the 14t cog that bouts a few weeks ago on it then both bikes will essentially be running the same gearing and will both be the same as my race BMX gearing of 36×16.

I have already got my clipless pedals on my bike so it is ready whenever I get the all clear to ride on the track πŸ™‚ For the moment it is on the wall as art work:

Airdrop Fade Works

I have just checked on the Wiggle site and the new chain is supposed to arrive by 6pm tonight so I will have both bikes up together by 7pm tonight πŸ™‚ Annoyingly I had to buy a complete chain just to get another bullet pin to close the chain as they are not selling just the pins at the moment πŸ™

I also have a brand new Gusset Slink chain here without a bullet pin as I have just used the pin and the brand new chain from my bike on my son’s bike. Luckily I can get gusset pins online so I will be able to use this chain at a later date. I have just bought 3 of the links for the gusset chains for pre-order. They should be arriving at the shop at the end of the week so they should be here next week some time. I figured that for Β£3 a pop it made sense to get one for the spare chain and then had 2 links in case I need to take the chain off and put it back on again as the links are not re-usable πŸ™
