Sunday 26th October 2025

Weight = NA

Steps = 10629

So today was the first day that I got to go for a ride on my new Whyte Kado S 800:

Whyte

This morning I woke up at 4:45 without an alarm and got showered and changed and then rode from my patents house to my flat in Bath. I then got a drink and fed the Axolotls and then rode to the track to meet a friend to give him my keys to the containers at the track and then I rode home.

The ride in was super easy and really fast too!

WhatsApp Image 2025 10 26 at 10.25.27As you can see it only took me 1 hr 24 minutes and 55 second when on my old bike I was consistently taking 1 hr 37 minutes plus to get from my parents to the flat so I was about 13 minutes faster today! I rode 21.5 miles with an average speed of 15.2 mph and climbed 738 ft. the New bike is so much better as it has way less motor drag when you go over 15.5 mph so I could keep the pace up and also the motor is way better than the old bike too so climbing hills was a breeze too 🙂

I was a bit lazy and ride in emtb all the time apart from steep hills where I slapped it into Turbo and flew up the hills like they were flat 🙂

When I got to the flat I was on 54% battery so i had loads left to get home with as well! Or so I thought!

When I got to the track the battery had dropped to abut 40% and it was saying that there was only 9 miles range on emtb but I decided to ride home anyway and when I got out of Wellow the battery dropped below 30% and I had to start riding in eco mode!

I managed to limp back home and had enough battery to use emtb and Turbo to get home 🙂

By the time I got home the bike has 1 mile of range left and 4% battery so my range test pretty much worked as I found out that I would need a 250wh range extender to be able to ride home and back comfortably in emtb and turbo modes! OR I will need to charge the battery when I am in work!

WhatsApp Image 2025 10 26 at 10.35.50 As you can see the ride home was significantly slower than the ride in partly due to there being more hills on the way to my parents than the way to Bath and partly due to having to use eco mode most of the way! The ride home took 1hr 58 minutes and 36 seconds and was 23.6 miles and I climbed 1325 ft. My average speed dropped from 15.2 mph to 11.9 mph and my Avg cadence dropped from 59 rpm to 50 rpm too!

All in all I am super happy with the bike and now I know that I will have to charge the battery when I am in the office I will get a new charger to leave in the office so that I don’t have to keep bringing the charger with me every day!

When I got home I was messing with the app and found that the shop had updated my motor software but had not updated the motor riding modes to use the extra power! So today I was running a max torque of 85nm instead of the max of 100nm and it was running a max power of 600 W instead of the new max of 750 W! I have now updated all the modes to use the extra power so I expect the bike to be even better when I ride it tomorrow BUT the battery will have less range due to all the extra power being used!

I also need to get a front mudguard as there was so much water and mud going in my face it was not funny! I have bought an RRP Proguard Bold on V2 Max Protection front mudguard to go on the Whyte which arrived yesterday but I need to get a mounting kit as the ones that come with the mudguard do not work with my forks 🙁

I chilled for the rest of the day and by the end of the day I was on 10629 Steps.

Monday 27th October 2025

Weight = 107.1 kgs

Steps = Steps

This morning I woke up at 5:30 am and got up and did my weigh-in and I was surprised to see that I was up to 107.1 kgs 🙁

I then showered and got dressed and then at about 6:30 I drove to my parents and then went out for a ride on the emtb to scope out Asham woods as a potential route to and from work.

WhatsApp Image 2025 10 27 at 10.28.44It turns out that the quarry is now all fenced off and a lot of the bridal ways that I wanted to use are also closed so it was a fun ride but not overly successful as there is only one route and its a lot further than the main road so I may take the main road in the morning and then at lunch time I will take the quarry/ woods on the way home to have a play and avoid the really busy road!

I was really surprised how the power upgrade that I did yesterday has changed the way the bike rides and I got up some really steep muddy trails with little effort! I still need to get used to which gearing I need to be in to get the full power of the motor on climbs but doing this route will speed that process up a fair bit!

The ride took a lot longer than I expected and was a lot further than I thought that it would be as a lot of the short cut and off road routes were closed off for various reasons so I had to take the longer road routes and ended up riding for 2 hrs 11 minutes and 27 seconds and covered 22.7 miles and manged to use 70% of the battery! There was a lot more climbing than I thought there would be too at 1145 feet.

When I got home I got changed and put all my riding clothes in the wash as they were covered in mud, dirty water and cow poo 🙁 I then washed the bike as well as it too was covered in crap too! I am waiting for the bolts for the mudguard to arrive so I can fit the front mudguard for when I ride it next!

Last night I bought a 6A fast charger for the bike as it was on offer from £199 to £109 with free postage so I figure that I will leave that in Bath at the flat or office so that I can charge the bike more quicky than the 2A charger that came with the bike. Looking on line the charging times are:

  • PowerTube 800 6A Charger: 50% = 1 hour / 100% = 3 hours
  • PowerTube 800 4A Charger: 50% = 2.6 hours / 100% = 6.9 hours
  • PowerTube 800 2A Charger: 50% = 5.7 hours / 100% = 12.4 hours

The fast charger should significantly speed up the charging time 🙂

Tuesday 28th October 2025

Weight = 107.9 Kgs

Steps = 2564 Steps

This morning I worked from 6:30 until 13:00 ish then cleaned the flat a bit and did the washing up then I chilled until 16:30 then worked again until 22:30 ish so I didn’t get up to much other than work today so I took today as a rest day!

When I woke up I did my weigh-in and I was up again to 107.9 kgs too which I am hoping is mostly due to gaining muscle from riding the bike a lot! I have become aware that I am not walking much again so I need to start to make an effort to walk with the rucking vest on every day again as soon as I can!

Today about 13:00 the go pro helmet mounts and the fast charger for the ebike arrived so I will try them both out when I go to my parents tomorrow afternoon.  The oli also arrived at my parents so I can oil the chain when I get to their house tomorrow.

By the end of the day I had only walked 2564 steps for the day 🙁

Wednesday 29th October 2025

Weight = 108 Kgs

Steps = 5254 Steps

So this morning I woke up at 6:00 before my alarm and got up and did my weigh-in and I was up another 0.1 kgs to 108 kgs 🙁 I really need to sort my eating out and walk more to get my weight down again as I have basically put all the weight that I have lost this year back on already which is annoying to say the least 🙁

I think starting on Monday I will ride into Bath ever morning first thing then ruck into the office and work in the office in the morning EVERY week day Monday to Thursday to start getting into the routine of working out every day again. I also need to start going to the gym with my son as well so I will do the gym on Tuesday and Thursdays at lunch time if my son is available. I am also going to go carnivore again to get back out of eating so much carb rich food again!

I am also going to start doing my Friday fasts again, where I stop eating Thursday evening and don’t eat at all Friday to get a 36 hour fast in! to detox from all the carbs and kick start my weight loss! I am also slowly getting more asthma too and the fasting keeps that at bay!

I am working until 11:30 today and then I will go to my parents, stick the go pro to my helmet, oil the emtb chain and then go for a ride on the ebike to tray a new route to get to Mells through Asham woods and some other bridal ways to miss out the main roads all together! I think that it will add mileage to the ride but should be a lot more fun and definitely a whole lot safer! I am most likely only going to go this way on the way home at lunch time but I may well miss out the woods and do the main road on the way in but maybe use the bridal patch route after the woods on the way in. I will see how the route is today!

When I get back from my ride I will clean the bike, get changed and then carry on with the battens in the garage until I get bored or my back gives out! Which ever happens first 🙂 I am going to have a chill weekend this weekend and get the battening all done then next week we can buy the last of the plasterboard and we can fully clad the garage ready for plastering to happen on the 22nd November. this gives me a spare weekend to prep the garage for plastering and fix any issues the plasterer sees before he comes to plaster on the 22nd.

The weekends in November pan out as follows:

1/2 – Battens
8/9 – Plasterboard
15/16 – Prep for Plastering
22/23 – Plastering

29/30 – Paint?

I have just got an email to say that my new FidLoc bottle will be arriving at my parents house today so once I have that I will have everything that I need to do my rides apart from spare inner tubes which I am buying now.

WhatsApp Image 2025 10 30 at 07.25.54After lunch I drove over to my Parents house and my son and I did some battening in the garage and put the first plaster board on the wall too which is nice to see and gets it out of the way too 🙂

While we were there my new merino wool socks arrives as did my Fidlock water bottle which is tiny but fits in the frame just! I also oiled the chain on the ebike, tried fitting my RRP mudguard on the bike but it doesn’t fit so I put on a smaller MudGuard one that I had lying around (see picture on the left)

It fits well and looks OK so I will stick with that until I can get an adapter for my bike for the RRP one as it is way better than the MudGuard one and is bold on too so will be more secure!

We then had dinner and helped with some chores and then headed back to Bath. By the end of the day I was on 5254 steps which is pretty good for bumbling around the flat and my parents house!

Thursday 30th October 2025

Weight = 107.6 kgs

Steps = Steps

This morning I woke up at 4:00 without an alarm and got up and did my weigh-in and I was down to 107.6 kgs so down 0.4 kgs from yesterday which is good 🙂 I then got dressed and did some work until about 4:30 and then I drove to my parents house and dropped their car off, got changed and then rode the Whyte back to Bath:

WhatsApp Image 2025 10 30 at 07.31.53The ride was really enjoyable as it was dry and not too cold and my new Marino wool socks kept my feet toasty and warm 🙂 The bike was amazing too and is so enjoyable to ride! I am so happy I bought it and it was the right decision to pay extra and get the best bike that I could afford instead of getting a bike at the price limit that work set! The mudguard also made the ride more enjoyable as it stopped all the gunk getting sprayed into my face and eyes which was nice 🙂

I really struggled with the Fidlock bottle this morning and had to stop and get off the bike to put the bottle back. This is partly because the placement of the bottle means that it is really hard to reach and even harder to put back but also as I am not used to using the FidLock system yet and it is really hard to judge where the mount is compared to a normal bottle cage! I will persevere with the Fidlock system to see if I can get used to it.

Despite having to stop a few times to put the water bottle back on the bike I was still 0.1 seconds faster riding home this morning compared to my inaugural ride on Saturday which was mainly due to me only riding one way today so I had loads of battery to spare and decided 3/4 of the way home that I may as well use turbo mode all the way home 🙂

The only thing that would make this bike better is if the motor limit could be upped to 20 mph from the stupidly low 15.5 mph that the government pulled out of thin air to use as the ebike speed limit 🙁 With the limit at 15.5 mph I seem to spend most of my time fighting the motor as I can comfortable ride at around 20 mph on a normal bike 🙁 At some point I may try and get a USA firmware loaded on the bike so that the motor limit is 20 mph which would make the bike perfect in my honest opinion!

I am now working and at lunch time I plan to ride to the jumps outside town to see how they are looking now as my friend asked me about them the other day and I said I would pop over and get him some photos. I will probably go for a bit of a blast along the canal too to try and get my battery down as much as I can so that I can test the fast charger doing a 95-100% charge! Exciting 🙂
