Sunday 29th June 2025
Weight = 106.3 kgsย
Steps = 6617 Steps
This morning I woke up at 5 am and was hurting so I decided to go back to sleep after my weigh-in (Up to 106.3 kgs!) and I woke up at 8 am so I decided that today would be a rest day! I then got up and got ready and then drove to my parents house and started to organize the garage a bit more.
I stayed at my parents until about 7 pm then headed home.
By the end of the day I had got to 6617 steps but i was feeling much less sore and stiff than I was this morning!
Monday 30th June 2025
Weight = 106 kgs
Steps = 6673 Steps
This morning I woke up at 5 am with my alarm and felt really tired still but i managed to talk myself into getting up and doing my weigh-in and I was surprised that I was down to 106 kgs this morning so a 0.3 kgs loss from yesterday! I then got dressed and went to the track and did my sprints as planned. I did 6 x 25m alternating leg sprints with 3 minutes rest in between reps followed by a 5 minute rest then 6 x 50m sprints again alternating and with 3 minutes in between.
I felt really good this morning once I got out of bed so I was glad that I dragged myself up and got a really good training session in the bag!
I then headed home did some work then showered and rode the mtb into the office. I then worked in the office until 1 pm then I headed home. By the time I got home I was on 5287 steps for the day so I have about 10000 steps to get in before bedtime still ๐
I didn’t get many more steps in the rest of the day as I was working so I ended the day on only 6673 Steps which is disappointing but I guess that I was pretty active as I did sprints and rode my bike to the office and back as well so it wasn’t too bad I suppose.ย
Tuesday 1st July 2025
Weight = 105.7 kgs
Steps = 13343 Steps
This morning I woke up with my alarm at 5 am and dragged myself out of bed and did my weigh-in and I was down to 105.7 kgs this morning so I have lost 0.6 kgs this week already and I have been eating more so that’s a good start to the week ๐ Eating more has also meant that I am less achie than i have been in recent weeks too although its a bit early to day much yet as I have only done one sprints session so far this week ๐ I will see how I am feeling on Friday before I make a judgement as I was really struggling last Friday!
I then showered and got dressed and then did some work then put my weight plate in the rucksack and went for a bit of a ruck. I walked up the hill by my house and then cut through the park onto the 2 tunnels and did my short loop and headed home. I got to 5741 steps for the day so basically at the same point as I was yesterday afternoon so hopefully I can get more steps in today.
When I got home I remembered that i am supposed to be eating breakfast so I make 4 egg scrambled eggs and 6 rashers of bacon to get the food in ๐
I have been reflecting on how much better I feel after a morning walk/ ruck so I will start doing it again as much as possible from now on! Basically I need to get back in the habit of walking first thing then going to the track at lunch time instead to doing sprints first thing like I have been doing! This way i can get the benefits of the walking first thing and then get my BMX specific training in at lunch time and in the evening where possible. This schedule is also doable in the winter too so I may as well get in the habit now so that i can stay motivated in the winter when its cold, dark and wet!
I need to ruck more as it is much better than just walking as I feel even better after rucking than I do from just walking and it also works the legs and core way more so its a win win.
In the afternoon I went to my parents and cleared out some more of their garage and filled up the car with a car full of stuff to take to the recycling center. By the end of the day I was on a respectableย 13343 Steps!ย
Wednesday 2nd July 2025
Weight = 105.2 kgs
Steps = 10016 Steps
This morning I got up at 5 am and did my weigh-in and I was down 0.5 kgs to 105.2 kgs this morning so all the walking helped drop some weight! I then got dressed and headed to the track where I did my usual sprints session of 6 x 25m alternating then 6 x 50m alternating sprints with 3 minutes between reps and 5 minutes rest between sets.ย I then headed home did a bit of work and then had a shower and rode the mtb to the office and worked in the office until about 11 am when I rode home! At 12:00 my son and myself got headed to the tip and emptied the car and I then drove my son to his mum’s and then headed home and chilled for a bit before starting work again!
At 4 pm I get changed into my BMX and headed to my friends house and I got a lift to gates at Andover BMX. This week I took my race Curtis as opposed to my training Curtis that I used last week and my gate times were better from the start so I guess that as the only difference was the Onyx hubs on the Race bike the Onyx is slightly better! On my 6th gate I got a new pb of 2.495 Which was 0.001 seconds faster than my pb that I tied last week on my training bike then on my 17th gate of the night I got on the gate with one of the fast guys and took 0.031 seconds off of my time for a new pb of 2.464 seconds ๐ I am still a fair bit off of where I should be but I am moving in the right direction pretty quickly ๐
To be honest I was feeling pretty flat all evening and my legs were feeling heavy after the sprints session in the morning so I think next week I will only do 2 x sprint sessions and drop the Wednesday one to see if I feel fresher at gates.
By the time I got to bed I was on 10016 Steps for the day.ย When I got home I massaged my legs to hopefully be in less pain tomorrow.
Thursday 3rd July 2025
Weight = 105.1 kgs
Steps = Steps
This morning I woke up at 5 am but I didn’t get to sleep until late as I was waiting for my son to get home from work so it was way past 11pm when I got to bed so I set my alarm for 6:30 and went back to sleep. At 6:30 I got up and did my weigh-in and I was down 0.1 kgs to 105.1 kgs this morning which is good. I then did some work and then I had to go into the office so I showered and got dressed and rode the mtb to the office. I then worked until just before 12 and headed home again where I made food and then chilled until 14:00 when I worked from home until about 16:30 and I am now chilling waiting to go to the track to setup for gates ๐
I did miss my morning walk today and really needed it as today has had a lot of things for me to fix but i did manage to get 4505 steps in around the office so I should be able to get to 10000 steps again today to make 3 days in a row this month on 10000 + steps!
I got to the track at about 17:45 and setup for gates as planned then about 18:30 I started doing gates. My legs still felt heavy but I was able to do some gates as planned so it wasn’t a total waste of time which is good and I felt much better afterwards too. By the time I got home I was only on 8820 steps so I had a shower and then dragged my son to the shops to get my steps in and get some food and water for tomorrow.
I have decided to take tomorrow as a rest day so that I can go to Patchway Saturday and either Patchway or Andover on Sunday as well to make the most of my weekend. So resting tomorrow means that riding the tracks will be more enjoyable for sure!
By the time I got home from the shops I was on 10800 steps so I was done for the day ๐ I ended up with a few more steps at 10990 Steps by the time I went to bed.
Friday 4th July 2025
Weight = 105.3 kgs
Steps = 5481 Steps
This morning I slept in until 6:30 am and then got up and did my weigh-in and I was back up 0.2 kgs to 105.3 kgs this morning ๐ย I then did a bit of work then showered and rode the mtb into the office and worked in the office until 13:00 when I rode home again.
I then pretty much chilled for the rest of the day and after work I watched a film and then started thinking about my training progress and how it is going and I have decided that from Monday I will walk first thing then do sprints at lunch time and I also need to do roller sprints to build leg speed in the evenings too. I have also decided that I want to double bike at Bristol in a couple of weeks so tomorrow I will get my OS20 back from my parents house and use that more to get used to riding it again. I have buckled the rear wheel on my black Curtis anyway so I can use the cranks off of it to go on the OS 20 so it has the same cranks as the Curtis Cruiser. I will then get the rear wheel on the black Curtis sorted at payday. I am also going to get my GT Speed Series back from my parents tomorrow as well and I will build that up with the parts from my StayStrong Speed and Style and then I will use the GT as my ride to work bike and sell the StayStrong Frame. I am also going to try and fit 24 x 2.10 power blocks on the GT to make the ride to work more comfortable, I have just bought 10 mm to 14 mm adapters so that the 10 mm Profile mini hubs will work with the 14 mm GT Power Series Frame.
Training wise I have decided that from Monday I will walk/ruck first thing EVERY morning and then at lunch time I will do sprints on the following days:
Monday:
Usual – 25m and 50m alternating leg flat sprints
Tuesday:
Box sprints off of the start hill then pump laps to finish the lap (all right leg starts)
Wednesday:
Rest as driving to my parents as doing gates at Andover in the evening
Thursday:
Box sprints off of the start hill then pump laps to finish the lap (all right leg starts)
Friday:
Rest Day
Saturday:
Usual – 25m and 50m alternating leg flat sprints followed by a track session
Sunday:
Free Ride at track or pump track
On Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings I will ride on the rollers to get used to riding on them so that I can sprint on the rollers by the winter to build leg speed.
I am really missing walking in the mornings which is why I am going to focus on getting the walking done first thing in the morning every day again!
My Fitbit was on charge all evening so my step count was lower than it actually was but I still
Saturday 5th July 2025 – 15 Days until Bristol Regional
Weight = 105.4 kgs
Steps = ย Steps
This morning I had a lie in as my son didn’t get home until about 1 am and then we chatted a bit so I didn’t get to sleep until about 2 am so I set an alarm for 7:30 but woke up without the alarm at 6:30. I got up and did my weigh-in and i was up 0.1 kgs again this morning to 105.4 kgs so although my wright has gone up a bit I almost lost 1 kg (0.9 kgs) this week so a solid week still! I am hoping that when I go back to walking again when I wake up on Monday the weight will start dropping off again! I also hope that it will help to get rid of some of the heaviness in my legs that I have had this week!
I had to take my son to work at 8:30 so I decided that I am going to take today as a rest day too and get on with rebuilding bikes! I was thinking about the GT and I think that I will replace the wheels with the Halo freewheel wheels with the Profile Elite freewheel on them later on but I am going to use the parts off of the StayStrong to build up the Dialled and use that as my ride to work bike at least for the remainder of the summer! I may then build up the GT and use it as my winter bike as the Halo wheels will be better for the wet than the Profile Mini wheels. By 9 am the Dialled was built up and ready to ride on Monday:
I think that I am going to try and make the 24 x 2.10 tyres work on this frame as it will be much nicer to ride than the 24 x 1.75 tyres and also my friend has his Dialled set up with 24 x 2.10 tyres and he swears that it is the best jump bike that he has ridden so I would like to try that out! I have the bars higher than I would on a race bike anyway so I think that it should ride pretty well to be honest! I am just taking the 24 x 1.75 tyres off of the Curtis’s and I will put them on the Dialled and hopefully they will fit now as the wheel is further back in the dropout due to dropping a tooth at the front from where it was when I tried to build it last time so I am hoping that that will get enough clearance to fit the tyre.
I am currently waiting on worms to be delivered so I have the time to get the Dialed sorted and fully built up and ready to go! I may even pop to the track on the way to my parents house to drop off the Black Curtis and pick up the Standard OS20 to start using as my car bike ๐
So the 24 x 2.10 Powerblock does not work with the Dialled Frame even though it works on my friends frame with no issues ๐ I will stick a Powerblock 24 x 1.75″ on the back and the 2.10 on the front for now but I may get an S&M TrackMark 24 x 2.10 to see if that will fit when I get paid on the 15th ๐
The Dialled is all done now and ready to ride:
I’m not bothering to take it to the track today as its raining and I have too much other stuff to do anyway.
