Sunday 18th May 2025
Weight = 104.3 kgs
Steps = 5199 Steps
So I had a lie in this morning and got up about 9 am and did my weigh-in and woke my son up and we got showered and dressed and headed over to my parent’s house and filled the car with all of the stuff to take to the tip and also dropped off 4 bikes in their garage to free space in my garage!
We then headed home and I did the washing up until 12:10 when we headed to the tip and emptied the car. We then got the gazebo that I borrowed during the week and took it back to the container and then headed home where we moved my old wardrobe into the garage to give me more space in the bedroom as the wardrobe was not being used any more!
At about 2 pm I went to my friends house and helped him build up my Chase frame with the parts from his bike so that he can sell it! The bike fought us all the way and I ended up bringing it home again with me to build up this week!
Monday 19th May 2025
Weight = 103.4 kgs
Steps = 12723 Steps
This morning I woke up 15 minutes before my 5 am alarm and laid in bed waiting for the alarm to go off. I then got up did my weigh-in and was surprised to see that I had dropped 0.9 kgs and I am down to 103.4 kgs again this morning. This is the lightest that I have been all year so my consistency is starting to pay off! I then got dressed and headed to the track and did my pre-work sprints session of 6 x 25 m sprints followed by 6 x 50 m sprints with 3 minutes rest in between as normal. I then headed home, showered, put my rucksack weight in my work rucksack and rucked into the office. I worked all morning then rucked home about 12:15 ish and by the time I was home I was on just over 10000 steps already
At about 15:30 the 37t chain ring that I ordered from Crucial arrived so I am about to take my break and fit it so it will have the same gearing as my Race Cruiser so both bikes are identical!
So it turns out that with this length of chain and the 37 x 16 gearing the wheel is fully slammed so I will not have to worry about the wheel moving any time soon
While on call I got the Chase all built up and dialled in and also managed to clean the kitchen and also clean out the axolotl aquarium for my tubed axolotl so she could go back in the aquarium again. This also meant that I got in an additional 2000 steps in the evening while I was working so not bad. By the end of the day I was on a respectable 12723 Steps for the day
Tuesday 20th May 2025
Weight = 103.5 kgs
Steps = 12427 Steps
So this morning I woke up with my alarm due to the fact I couldn’t sleep right away when i finished my shift so I decided to rest this morning not go for a walk as I am going to the track at lunch time so I want to be fresh for that! I did get up a 5 am and do my weigh-in and I was 0.1 kgs this morning to 103.5 kgs. Last night I shaved my head and beard and I noticed that my face has thinned out a lot and I almost only have 1 chin now so the consistent sprints and eating better is really helping. I also noticed that my shoulders and arms are getting way more defined so I think that some of the weight may well be creatine/ water weight and I have actually lost a lot more body fat than I think I have maybe. My legs are also getting way bigger and more defined too so I think a couple of months training consistently will show massive results.
Another positive change due to losing weight and being more active is that I am generally way more active and spending less and less time in bed watching TV and more time doing more productive things like organizing the flat and keeping it tidy which in turn burns more calories so its a win win I have also noticed that since changing my diet I have had way more energy generally. I think that the sun has really helped with the energy and consistency too as its way easier to wake up and go outside and train or walk when the sun is shining
This could also be that I have added a bit of carbs to my diet by changing from 100% Carnivore to allowing potatoes and veg into my diet too so I am basically eating unprocessed food only which seems to be working at the moment
I have done this as I don;t have the money to eat steak at the moment so adding potatoes to the mince cheese and eggs makes it way less boring to eat
Last week I ate home made burgers with some combination or eggs, bacon and cheese every day and by the end of the week I was craving anything but burgers which prompted the change. Weirdly I am actually starting to enjoy cooking a bit now too
I got to the track at about 14:00 and did 6 x full track pump laps with about 3 minutes rest and then I had to call it a day as I had to go to my parents house and set up my bike rack amd put the bikes on it and water their plants and feed their fish as well. I then headed back to the track and helped putting the gate stuff back into the new container.
By the time I got home it was about 20:30 and I still had about 3500 steps to go to get to 12000 steps so I am just walking on the treadmill now to get to 12000 steps before bed! I finished the day on 12427 Steps so the second day in a row that I got over 12000 steps!
Wednesday 21st May 2025
Weight = 102.6 kgs
Steps = 10274 Steps
So this morning I woke up at 5 am and it was raining and I was tired so I didn’t go walking again today and went back to sleep until 6:30 when I woke up and was not tired any more so I got up and did my weigh-in and I was amazed to see that I was down to 102.6 kgs which is the lightest that I have been since I have been fat at least So yesterday I lost 0.9 kgs and I am down 1.7 kgs this week! The one meal a day went well too yesterday as I was not hungry at all after eating the massive breakfast at 11 am yesterday so I will try and do this every day for now to try and get my weight down! I am planning to go for a walk at lunch time and then I am going to gates at Bristol tonight so I should get my 12000 steps for the day in today too.
In my lunch break I finished off building the Chase and then broke the Dialled down and built up the StayStrong Speed and Style up ready to put online to sell once it is complete. It is missing a brake lever and grips to be done. Tomorrow I will build up the Dialled with all the parts from the parts bin and then get that up for sale as well then I need to build up the SuperCross so that one of the dads from the club can try it out.
After work I got ready, loaded the car up and then headed to Patchway via the garage to fill up with petrol and then did gates. It was a really good session but I was getting my arse handed to me by the usual suspects plus 2 of the teenagers that have got big over the 2 years that I have been hurt!
My Times were OK but my best time of 2.258 was a fair bit slower than the guys I was on the gate with who had times of 2.1xx so room for improvement.
As I was out snapping them every time then going backwards I got my team manager to film me as he was filming his son anyway and he noticed that after my snap I pause and then my bum moves backwards before I get into my second pedal so for the rest of the session I worked on keeping my core tight and trying to smoothly get into my second and 3rd pedals. It worked and I got my 2.258 time a couple after watching the film!
On my last gate my calf got really tight and I backed off to not tear it and called it a day. It was 20:00 by then anyway so I said my goodbyes and then headed home.
When I got home I was still on just over 6000 steps so I had to go on the treadmill to get to 10000 steps for the day then I took a shower and went to bed.
By the end of the day I was on 10274 steps for the day which is not great and well below the 12000 steps that I wanted, but at least its a 3rd day in a row over 10000 steps
I also booked some holiday as I am thinking of racing in the Bristol summer series race next Wednesday so I booked the day off to make it easier to get there than it was tonight and I have booked some time off around the Bath Regional and my mum’s birthday which is a couple of days after the regional so works out well!
Thursday 22 May 2025
Weight = 102.5 kgs
Steps = 6976 Steps
This morning I woke up at 4:05 and then fell asleep again and was rudely woken up by my alarm at 5:00! I slowly woke up and dragged myself out of bed and did my weigh-in and I was down another 0.1 kgs to 102.5 kgs which is good.
I then got dressed and headed to the track to do sprints. In between sprints I looked at videos of improving second and 3rd pedals and all the videos point to filming your efforts and playing them back when resting, Swapping front feet with each rep to strengthen your weaker leg too and doing high volume short distance sprints to work on your form not work on power. So for my 50 m sprints I alternated legs each sprint and my off leg is way sorer now than it usually would be. I also worked on getting my core as tight as possible too. I did 6 x 25 m and 6 x 50 m (alternating legs) and then called it a day and headed home.
I have decided that I will do My proper sprints Monday, Thursday and Saturday (Timed) mornings before work and then do short sprints to work on form on Tuesday and Friday mornings and see if that improves my second and third pedals. I am thinking doing 20-30 10 m sprints with little or no rest to see if that sorts the issues out! I will also start timing my Saturday sessions as I have more time as I am not rushing to get back to start work like I am on week days
I will start filming all of my sprints sessions as well so that I can iron out the kinks in the body form as quickly as possible.
At lunch time I had a nap as I was really tired as I didn’t sleep too much last night. Then at 17:30 I got ready and headed to the track and set up for gates and probably did about an hour of gates and I felt good. I am deffo getting faster and I also found a really fast way to get over the second jump on the first straight and get a load of speed going into the berm which should be useful if I race on the 8th June I then packed up and headed home and had a bath for 30 minutes to relax and get my muscles rested so I can get up early in the morning and work on my first 4 pedals and video them as I could feel that a lot of my gates my core was deffo not engaged!
By the end of the day I was only on 6976 steps but I had had a busy day so I figured that I would be better to sleep than to walk on the treadmill and sleep late!
Friday 23rd May 2025
Weight = 102.3 kgs
Steps = Steps
So this morning I woke up with my alarm at 5:00 but was really tired so I went back to bed until 7:00 when I got up and did my weigh-in and I am down to 10.3 kgs this morning which is amazing as I have lost exactly 2 kgs since Sunday with very little effort at all This means that this year I have lost 1 stone already (Started at 17.07 Stones and I am now 16.10 Stones) or 6.1 kgs if you think in metric terms
I am going to take today as a rest day and just try and get my steps in today and then tomorrow I will do sprints and pump laps to make up for the rest day today!
Just before lunch time I decided that I wanted to go to the track and do some riding so I don’t waste the sun! I decided to try my HTT2SX pedals that I got a while back and never used and my Shimano S-Phyre XC9 shoes that I bought a while ago and haven’t really used either! so the pedals are now on the bike and look pretty good to be honest!
I have decided that I am not going to race at Patchway on Wednesday but I will instead use the day off to get some full laps in at Bath track instead as I will be racing there on the 8th I think so it makes more sense. I will also spend the weekend riding Bath too to get more practice in and save money on petrol from going to other tracks as I was thinking of doing! This will mean that I get 16 days to practice full laps at Bath and get my body used to doing full laps. Surprisingly last night the First straight felt really easy so finger crossed a couple of weeks of practice doing full laps will make racing a bit easier For the next 2 weeks I will also just ride the New Curtis with the HT pedals to get used to riding that bike.
So I got away from work at about 12:30 and got to the track by 12:47 so I got dressed in my body Armour and got the Shimano shoes on and then hit the track. I did 2 pump laps to warm upo then I did 3 or 4 fulls speed first straights then race speed pumped the rest of the track then I decided to do full speed to the first jump on the 2nd straight and try and jump to pedal manual the jump which I managed once out of 6 tries but I got the first straights spot on so I will do 2nd straights after sprints tomorrow! I have to say that the HT pedals and Shimano Shoe combo is really fast as I was way faster than last night but I guess that I was fully rested today and last night I had already done sprints in the morning but I think it is mostly having tight clips and light shoes helps a lot! Its like as soon as I have HT pedals on the bike my body shifts up a gear or something! I was even doing tap manuals to pedal down the second jump on the 1st straight which I haven’t done for years I think that because the HT’s hold your feet to the pedals really firmly with little or no movement all your energy goes into the pedals instead of wasting energy moving up and down and side to side so its faster! It will be interesting to see when I go back to Andover on Wednesday to see if they are actually faster on the timing or not!
Now I am home I will sort out the timing system ready to do some timed sprints tomorrow first thing and then relax for the rest of the day other than getting my steps in.
Saturday 24th May 2025
Weight = 103.1 kgs
Steps = Steps
So this morning I woke up at 3:45 and couldn’t sleep again so I chilled in bed until 5:10 then got moving. I didn’t my weigh-in and I was up a bit to 103.1 kgs this morning which is to be expected as I ate like crap yesterday and had a breakfast bagel for breakfast, nuggets and chips for tea and a whole tub of pineapple chunks and rice cakes at about 7 pm. On the plus side I am much less achie today
As I was getting dressed it started to rain really hard but it had subsided by the time I was ready so I headed to the track anyway. I didn’t bother with the camera or the timing system so I will start with that next week.
I started off with the usual 6 x 25 m sprints but now I am alternating legs as well. I then did my 6 x 50 m sprints alternating legs again. I took 3 minutes between efforts and 5 minutes between 25m and 50 m sprints as normal.
