Walking not going so well! Changes to Intermittent Fasting.

Couch Potato

Big changes coming from Monday!

This week has been a bit of a write off as my stomach has been pretty sort this week but I am getting worried that it may not be a muscle pull and may well be another hernia!

I have been able to walk pain free and also ride the Jump bike to work although that was putting a bit of a strain on the stomach! Especially when I tried to bunny hop up a curb without thinking!!!!

My Step count so fat this week is:

Day Steps
Sunday 9672
Monday 5852
Tuesday 3460
Wednesday 9307
Thursday 281 so far

On Monday and Wednesday part of my steps count would have been riding to and from work so if I had walked I would have most likely done more steps but to be honest over 8000 steps as day is good enough!

I am off work tomorrow so I plan to go for a ride early so get some cardio in as I am feeling pretty fat and sad at the moment!

While I have been off the bike I have been doing more research on intermittent fasting and I have found that a lot of the things that I have been drinking for the past month or so were breaking the fast which is why I have not really been losing weight even though I have been fasting. I also found out that the coconut water that I have been drinking to wean me off of Coca Cola is actually almost as full of sugar as the Coke is!!

I have one more carton to drink and then from tomorrow I will not be drinking anything other than Water, Water and Apple Cider Vinegar and Water and Lemon Juice! All 3 of these things are fine to drink when fasting too so it makes sense to drink them when not fasting too!

One change that I will have to make is that the beetroot juice that I have been drinking an hour before breaking my fast was actually breaking my fast as it has sugar in it so I will have to wait to drink it when I break my fast about mid day and then eat/ have a smoothie one hour after drinking the beetroot juice.

So my fasting routine will be Start fasting at 8pm and stop fasting at 12pm with a beetroot shot and then eat or drink a smoothie at 1pm. This should hopefully get me started losing weight again!

Walking wise I will start to break up the walk to make it fit in around my day a bit more instead of walking for 1 hour in the morning I will do 30 minutes in the morning and then 30 minutes in my lunch break and then if needed another 30 minutes after work. I am thinking that I want to aim to do 15000 steps a day for the month up until Worlds to try and lose as much weight as I possibly can.

I also need to start getting into the gym again so I am going to do Tuesday and Thursday for Legs and Monday and Friday upper body as more muscle means more calories burned and therefor more fat lost 🙂
I am in the office Monday’s anyway so I may as well walk in and go to the gym before work then I have chunked off a load of steps and a gym session before 7:30 am.

On the other 3 days I will work in the office until lunch time and then walk home at lunch and then work from home in the afternoon’s.

BMX Wise if my stomach lets me I will focus more on track sessions than sprints to work on my track skills and track fitness ready for the worlds.

My main weaknesses on the track other than fitness are carrying speed which I am getting better at but I still need a lot of work to get better. I am now getting to the point where my manuals are really starting to hold me back and it is the difference between me and the guys who are faster than me. Gate wise and to the first jump I am almost as quick as the fast guys when I don’t back off but as soon as we hit the jumps I go backwards as I lose speed and they get faster and faster!

So most track sessions need to start with pump laps and build up to pump laps sprinting to the first jump and out of berms to practice carrying speed and then I need to work on individual straights and get out of my comfort zone and try new lines to get ready for riding an unknown track in France!

As its Peckham National Weekend this weekend I will be riding a lot and I am pretty sure that I will have to ride with a lot of pain as my stomach is not getting better at the moment 🙁 If its really bad I will have to go to the doctors to get it looked at and see what can be done to heal before the worlds at the end of July! If it s a hernia then the only thing to do is operate in which case the Worlds are pretty much out of the question!
