Walking going well

I woke up at 4am this morning with tooth ache so I took some pain killers and chilled in bed until 5:30 then got up and got dresses and went for my morning walk as planned.

I felt good walking so I decided to go for a longer walk this morning as I was up and out early or so I thought! I walked along the 2 tunnels as normal and then went up to the main road at bear flats then down towards town then home but it turned out to be only a little bit further as I got home and I was on 5496 steps and I had walked 2.62 miles which turned out to be only 0.32 miles further and 722 steps further than turning around at the park and walking home!

I did enjoy the change in scenery though so I will go this way again tomorrow but walk an even longer way!

When I got home it was only just 6:30 so I did my upper body weights I have added 4kgs to my bench press as 20kgs was feeling too light and I have just bought a 1″ curl bar from Amazon so that I can start curling a bit heavier as well starting next week. I am now writing this post before doing the washing up and going in the shower to get ready for work! Again I am changing my mind about my morning routine and I am thinking that walking then working out before work is the way to go then it opens up my lunch hour to go out on the mountain bike for 40 minutes or so before eating and going back to work. This would mean that I have done an hour walking, weights and a bike ride all before 1pm and will allow me to be lazy after work if I feel like it.

Yesterday I totally wasted my afternoon off lying in bed and watching films on amazon prime. So I only managed 6063 steps yesterday which was disappointing as I was on about 5000 steps before I started work at 7:30 am! Still it was an increase of about 500 steps from Monday, and I fell really refreshed this morning so it wasn’t a total waste of time!

I plan to keep increasing the amount if steps I do a day until I am doing over 10000 a day again as that seemed to make me feel really healthy without making me too tired and sore the next day. The only issue was that as I was doing the majority of steps in one go it took about 2 hours in the morning which is a lot of time on one thing and also makes it hard to get motivated to get out of bed to do. By splitting it out during the day I think that it will be much easier to do keep up with and is also a really good warm up for weights when I get home which I am more motivated to do as it is improving my shoulder a lot meaning that I can get on the BMX sooner hopefully.

I have just chased up the company that I bought my weights off of as the Olympic Barbell has still not arrived and I have heard nothing back after receiving an email late last week saying they would chase the courier and get back to me. Hopefully this will be sorted soon as I really want to started doing leg weights as well to start getting stronger legs as well.

This evening I have been researching the benefits of walking and it is looking like I will need to aim for 11000 steps as day to get the full benefits of walking so over the weekend I really need to get my flat organised so that I can get my treadmill sorted to start walking while I am working to get my steps up from the 5-6000 steps that my morning walk is adding a day! This evening I have done an extra 3000 steps cleaning the kitchen, doing the recycling and putting it outside and putting away the clean washing which is pretty good and has got my daily total to around 8000 steps so not far off of my 10000 step target for the day. I am just about to call it a day and have a shower and go to sleep so that I can wake up refreshed again in the morning and go do it all again!

As tomorrow is a non-weights day as I am not starting leg weights until next week,  I will tray and get 10000 steps in before work to get my weekly total up a bit more. I heard this afternoon that I will be getting my Barbell tomorrow finally and I have been given a delivery window of between 11:00-14:00 tomorrow so hopefully I will have all of my weights equipment to work out 5x a week from next Monday. The clocks also go forwards at the weekend so I will be able to ride the BMX in the evenings from Monday as well so that will be another way to burn some more fat and get fitter as well. I am going to fix my DMR back wheel tomorrow as I haven’t had time to do it yet this week then I will take the DMR to the track on Saturday and leave it in the container so that I can ride the ebike to the track after work and ride the DMR at the track. My shoulder is feeling much better so I can hopefully start doing more than just pumping at the track soon too but just doing a bunch of pump laps most evenings will help with my fitness a lot!
