Training and gates done

Manual

I got up the track at about 10:45 this morning ready to start the coaching session. It was really cold and windy today but it was a really good training session despite the weather.

After coaching i stayed for gates and did a few gates and then pressed the button for the rest of the session as I wasn’t feeling the best still.

The wheels and the disk brake were amazing I really liked them and will definitely run disk brakes on all my future builds as it is much nicer to ride and maintain!

I am liking riding the Meybo and I was over manualing it on the first jump today which I haven’t done for ages. I really liked the Staystrong wheels too they feel really smooth and fast and are way better than their price would suggest.

I am going to build up my Speedco this evening to test it out tomorrow at the track to see if it is any better or not and if it is not I will most likely race the Meybo for the majority of the season if not all.

I am a bit torn as I really liked the Speedco out of the gate but fit felt too cramped for me on the track where as the meybo feels amazing on the track and is OK out of the gate too so it may be a better option and I am loving the disk brake which I would need to buy an adapter for the speedco to use.

With the longer stem the top tube on the Speedco should be the same as riding a 21.25″ top tube bike with the normal 53mm stem which I think should be about the perfect size for me. We will see tomorrow one way or the other and I can decide what I do next. I need to get my son a new frame as his current bike is dented so I will most likely give him the Meybo to ride when he rides (which is only once or twice a week anyway) and I will build up my race bike.

I am still torn between getting a Pure, Curtis or a Yess frame for me but I am leaning towards getting another Curtis and frame built up with no v brake bosses at all to make it cleaner. The advantage of the Curtis is that I can ride it for years without having to swap the frame where as if I have one of the other frame I will want to change it every couple of years. I think that the best option for me ids to get a Curtis and stick with it then I can get super comfortable with the bike as I have always changed my frames all the time so I am constantly adjusting to the new bikes all the time instead of getting on with learning bike skills properly. I will get in contact with Gary on Monday and see about getting another frame built up to race the Worlds as it will take a while to get built anyway so I just need to sort a bike for the mean time.
