I had to buy some new wheels for the Sunday wave C 24″ has new wheels the other week as I needed to use the profile elite wheels on my Son’s FTB Cruiser build.

I had a look online and the most cost effective wheels were the Fit 24″ Sealed wheelset that I bought from Alans BMX for £189.99 delivered which I thought was great value for a sealed set of wheels.

As the rear wheel was 14mm I decided that I might as well add another 2 pegs to make the bike a 4 peg bike which as you can see from the photo is what I did!

As the new wheelset came with a 9t driver and the other wheel set had a 13t sprocket on it I had to also buy a 25t front sprocket to make the gearing better as the 31T sprocket I had on the bike would have been way too high a gearing with the 9t sprocket on the Fit wheels. I looked around and ended up getting a cheap Seal 25t BMX sprocket from wiggle which was a bargain at £11.39 and will do for now as I am going to be learning to grind so the sprocket is going to get hammered! when it breaks I will shell out for a more expensive one!

I am really happy with the setup an plan to start riding the bike next week.

The current spec of the bike is as follows:

  • Sunday Wave C frame
  • Sunday Wave C Forks
  • Animal highline 50mm stem
  • S&M Bruiser bars
  • ODI Cult/Vans grips
  • Shadow conspiracy stacked headset
  • Seal mid 19mm bottom bracket
  • Sunday seat clamp
  • S&M Long Johnson pivotal seat post
  • S&M camo pivotal seat
  • Redline Cranks
  • Seal 25t chain Ring
  • Shadow Chain
  • Fit OEM Sealed Wheelset
  • Tioga powerblock 24×1.75 tyres
  • Odysey brake kit
  • 4 x Primo pegs.

The original bike build can be found HERE.

This is now the final configuration of he bike until thinks wear out or break so I can not see it changing much for a pretty long time as al the parts are pretty new so I will hopefully not have to spend any more money on the bike for a year or so.

The only things that may change are the tyres and the bars as they are race components so may not be up to the rigors of park and street riding but only time will tell and to be honest I cant see me doing anything too aggressive any time soon to need them to be replaced anyway!

To begin with I plan to work on my manuals, grinds and sack up to drop into the bowl to learn to ride that so I cant see any reason to rush to upgrade. I may have to get some hub guards to protect the hubs when grinding but to be honest the cost of hub guards is almost the same as replacing the wheelset so it may be a false economy in the long run! Plus the fact new wheels always make the bike feel shiny and new so are a better upgrade than replacing hub guards anyway.

I am super pumped at how the bike turned out and can’t wait to get it to the skatepark to try it out. As the bike now has 4 pegs it wold be rude of me to not actually learn to use the pegs so my main goal for this month is to learn to grind on both sides of the bike. The only issue I have is that I am un sure which side is my strong side as I have had to relearn my riding to be left foot forwards due to my messed up right ankle so I spin the wrong way for a left foot forwards rider 🙁

I’m sure with a few hour practice I will be able to figure it out and then I just need to sack up to try hand rails.

I am also toying with going break less as the brake I have is pretty inefficient and just makes noise!
