Sprints session almost done again

I woke up an hour before my alarm so I got up and went to the track car park and did sprints again this morning.

I was feeling really good until when I was doing the 30m sprints and for the first 60m sprint too then my knee and back started to get increasingly sore over the next 2 sprints so I decided to call it again after 3 x 30m and 3 x 60m sprints like I did on Tuesday morning although Tuesday morning’s session was cut short due to time constraints not injury!

The setup this morning was way faster as I had already marked everything out on Tuesday morning so all I had to do this morning was find my marks on the floor and drop the cones ready to go. I think it took less than 5 minutes to set everything up this morning which is a big improvement over 30 minutes on Tuesday!

As I said before on Sunday morning I will ride to the hill that I will use to do uphill and downhill sprints on and I will mark out 3 lines at 30m intervals so that I can start uphill sprints on Monday morning early without the need to measure everything out. I also have a flat bike path near my work that I also want to mark out so that I can do flat sprints there too on the way to work as my usual flat sprints spot is 15 minutes away by car which means that I waste 30 minutes driving there and back plus any warmup time when I get there (I obviously didn’t warm up enough this morning hence the knee and back pain!) having my sprint spots within cycling distance means that I can ride there and warmup at the same time so that I am ready to go as soon as I get to the spot. It also adds 30 minutes or so of cycling 3 times a week to my weekly exercise total which should mean more weight loss too 🙂

As I am in the office most Monday’s I am going to setup my Dialled MX24R as my sprint bike and run a 36×15 gearing to replicate riding up hill so that I can do Hill sprints on the flat on the cycle path near my work on Monday mornings early. The higher gearing will also be useful for building leg strength when riding to work as well so its a win/ win really!

I was going to go ride this afternoon but as my knee and back are sore from sprints will make a start on building the sprint bike up and clean all of my bikes as they are all dirty from riding around in the rain for the last week or so!
