Sprint and manual spot found

Sprint and manual spot found

This morning I got up at 5:30 and walked to the BMX track to see if the toilets and barriers had been picked up and they hadn’t! It wasn’t a wasted journey though as while I was there I noticed that the car park at the track is fully floodlit so it is perfect for sprints and manual training in the early morning as there are no cars and it is really light there! The walk was also way harder than my usual route as it was uphill all the way to the track so I got a better workout than normal too.

I am now going to change up my training to do sprints Tuesday and Thursday mornings early and Manuals on Monday and Fridays and then walk or rest all together on Wednesdays as I will have either Basketball or racing at Bristol Wednesday evening so I don’t want to over train.

Doing this will mean that I can then walk or ride the road bike in my lunch hour and then take it easy in the evenings.

I am riding on the Track on Saturday and Sundays anyway so I will still get a lot of track time over the winter so hopefully training this way will help me get into race shape and also improve my speed and manuals in the process!

I am now going to start to be a little more focused at gates on Sundays over the winter to try and build up my track fitness ready for the SW Champs in November and racing in the new year. I plan to warm up off the bike before gates and then when gates starts I want to do 3 warm-up gates at 70%, 80% and then 90% and then do the following:

1 x gate + 1st straight

1 x gate + 1st and 2nd Straights

1 x 1st, 2nd and 3rd Straights

1 x  Full Track

I plan to start off doing this twice through then once I am finding it easier I plan to add another set.

I also plan to rest for 5 minutes between sets.

This afternoon I had to go into the office so I walked so I added another 2.98 miles to my 4.72 mile walk to the track in the morning so with the walking around that I did in the office I racked up 19261 steps for the day.
