The doorbell rang at 8:30 this morning and to my delight it was the postman with the S&M Steel Panther 24″ Frame.
I unboxed it and got it in the work stand and I must say that it has a really pretty paint job and all the photos online do not do it justice. The candy red colour is just like a candy apple and you really have to resit the urge to lick the frame!
At lunch time I stripped down the Chase and built up the S&M with the parts. I am pretty happy with how it has turned out but I had to buy a new headset as the bottom bearing has split in 2 and will not fit back together, the brake also feels disgusting as the cable is really old so I have bought a new cable and new brake blocks as well which will be here tomorrow. I also got a new set of headset spacers as I only had odd ones to fit the bike at the moment. I also bought a couple more chains as the one on the S&M was the last one in my parts box and its always good to have a couple of spare chains lying around.
I am not going to ride the bike today anyway as the weather is disgusting so the issues are not a problem as I will have the new parts before I do sprints tomorrow anyway.
After lunch Crucial rang as my new helmet that I ordered was out of stock and will not be in until the middle of next week, I asked about my wheel build and that will be ready for the same time as the helmet so I will have both before the 2nd regional next weekend 🙂 Once I get the Onyx wheel back I will get the profile elite wheel serviced and get new bearings in it so it will be as good as new. As the Onyx wheel that I have for my 20″ does not fit I may well get the profile elite put onto a 20″ rim until I can figure out what to do with the onyx ultra hub. I can’t wait to get the Onyx wheel back as although the profile elites are really good hubs the Onyx is next level and just feel so much smoother and faster even if it may not actually be 🙂 After all feeling fast makes you faster 🙂
