30-09-2020 – Day 50
Got up and weighed in and I am 104.3kgs this morning so even though I didn’t do too much yesterday I still lost weigh.
I have decided that in stead of going to Bristol and back this morning I am going to do the 2 tunnels to Wellow then go on the Bath to Bristol cycle path to Bitten and BA back. This route is 22.7 km so I only need to do this twice to do the miles that I need to do today to clear the 600km for the month (42km).
This route will be 45.4KM according to google maps.
I ended up doing 42.86 miles so I finished the month riding 607.1 km (Just over 377 miles) so I made my goals for the month. I also had a new longest ride since using strava.
I somehow managed to get 4 pb’s along the way so wasn’t taking it easy by any means. After riding 40 miles I still managed to do my favorite segment averaging 20.1 mph so I was surprisingly fresh.
29/09/2020 – Day 49
Had a chilled day today as I had my new bed base arriving today. I woke up at 7am and did a weigh in and I am down to 104.7kgs today.
I had a quick ride to Wellow on the 2 tunnels and back which is 10.6 miles according to Strava and they showered and then rearranged my room and hoovered ready for the bed base to arrive.
The bed base arrived at about 2pm so I built it and the went to the pharmacy to pick up my inhalers. While I was at the pharmacy the asthma nurse called to do my asthma review. She told me off for not using the brown inhalers correctly and said to make sure I keep using them regularly. I am going to try to keep up with them as I have been feeling pretty bad the last couple of weeks without using them.
I now have 42 miles to go to finish the 600km challenge that I signed up for so I am going to have to do a long ride tomorrow to finish them all.
I have decided to drop my gearing back to 12-28 as my knee is not strong enough to use the 11 tooth ring that is in the new gearing. I will swap it back in a few months once my legs are stronger. I am also going to work on getting my cadence up before I go into the harder gearing again.
28/09/2020 – Day 48
Felt a bit rough this morning so I chilled in bed for a bit then got up and did a weighin. I have dropped 1kg this morning to 104.9kgs!!!
As my left knee was hurting so much yesterday I have dropped my seat about 1cm to see if that helps.
27/09/2020 – Day 47
Woke up early and did my weigh in and it was good news considering I haven’t had a chance to ride in 4 days due to being too busy at work! I am 105.9kgs so exactly the same weight as last week. Much better than I expected 🙂
23/09/2020 – Day 43
Had a really sore ride today to Wellow and back on the 2 tunnels. Rode 10.96 miles in 38,04 miles and only managed 1 pb today.
I have now completed 281 miles of my 300 mile challenge and 452.8km of my 600km challenge.
22/09/2020 – Day 42
Woke up when I woke up today and ate breakfast ready to ride to Bristol today. Feeling a bit crappy today to be honest so want to get a long ride in before I get sick and cant ride.
After breakfast I showered and went to the supermarket and got supplies and more cordial to fuel up on the ride.
21/09/2020 – Day 41
Got up early to ride to Bristol and back bit got a text just before I left that my new 11 – 32 tooth cassette was arriving before 1pm so I stayed on the sofa instead.
The cassette arrived just before 1pm so I fitted it and put the wheel on and then waited for my lunch to go down.
I ended up just doing the 2 tunnels again as a test ride and I am going to go to Bristol in the morning instead.
I did 10.58 miles in 35.03 minutes with an average speed of 18.1 mph which was pretty poor as I got slowed down in both tunnels in both directions by people blocking the tunnel walking and also all the way home there were people blocking the path so I had to go slowly.
I liked the new gearing as the top gear is a bit harder so I am going faster for sure. My legs have also got a lot stronger since the last time I rode the Trek which had the same gearing on as I was able to push the harder gearing much easier today 🙂
20/09/2020 – Day 40
Weigh in today was pretty good at 105.9Kgs so keeping the weight off at the moment.
I had a bmx day today and took the day off from the road bike.
Went to the tack for an hour or so and then chilled out the rest of the day.
19/09/2020 – Day 39
Had a chilled ride today with my Son. He rode the road bike and I rode the 4x bike. He went loads faster and managed to average 17.1 mph for the ride. I on the other hand struggled a bit to keep up in places.
We did 7.84 miles in 27:30 minutes.
I have now done 231 miles of my 300 miles for the month and 372 km of my 600km goal.
We are going to sell the 4x bike to buy another road bike for my son to use.
18/09/2020 – Day 38
Got up and had breakfast and then at 11 am I rode to Bristol and back along the cycle path. It was pretty busy and I had to stop a lot as people were blocking the path more than usual.
I cycled 28.79 miles in 2 hours and 28 seconds which is pretty good. I have been looking back over my times and today was 10 minutes faster than my next best time so not bad going and it didn’t feel like I was pushing it too hard either.
I need to change the rear cassette next month to get the same gearing as my old bike as I am missing the harder gearing a bit.
I have now done 223 of my 300 miles for the month. I have also joined the cycle 600km in September challenge as well and I have done 359km already.
17/09/2020 – Day 37
I have taken the day off today as I had things to do.
I did have a quick ride to help my son print some stuff out but that was only about a mile total so I’m not counting that as exercise.
I am going to ride to Bristol and back tomorrow morning to make up for the lack of miles today.
15/09/2020 – Day 36
Going to ride to Bristol with my brother this morning to get some miles in before my shifts start this week as I am on nights this week so not likely to get many rides in over the next 4 days.
Had a good ride to Bristol and back and then I did the 2 tunnels as well to finish off the ride. My Brother was struggling on the way home a lot as he hasn’t been riding much and had done an extra 12 miles to get to meet me.
I have now done 183 miles of the 300 miles for the month so I am currently ahead of schedule.
14/09/2020 – Day 35
I am resting this morning as it is my brother’s birthday today so we are going out for lunch today.
I plan to go to Bristol and back this afternoon to get a big ride in before I start my night shift rotations tomorrow.
Decided to take the day off and then my friend called to say that he was going to the track for a ride so I went up there on the race bmx and did a bit of riding.
13/09/2020 – Day 34
Weigh in this morning was really good. Down to 105.7kgs which is probably the lightest I’ve been all year 🙂 So I have basically lost just over 3 kgs this month.
Going to the BMX track this morning with my friend and his son so I will see how my legs hold up on the track.
The BMX track went fine I only did first straights but they were pain free and fast 😁
After the track we went back to my friend’s house in Bradford on Avon and had a barbecue and some beers in the sun. Myself and my son then rode home along the canal which was a nice way to finish the day, spin out my legs and also add some easy miles to my total 😁
I am now 143 miles into my 300 miles for the month.
12/09/2020 – Day 34
Went to Bitton with my son this morning then he went home and I did the two tunnels on my own. It was really busy with lots of people with dark clothes walking 3 abreast in the dark with no lights!!!
Needless to say I had to slow down a lot.
11/09/2020 – Day 33
Woke up when I woke up this morning which was about 8am. My back is feeling way better which I’m glad about.
I did a weigh in this morning and I have managed to lose weight even though I have been working the last 4 days which I’m happy about.
I am back down to 107.1kg so after my ride today I should be down to 106.somthing so back to my starting weight 🤦♂️.
I’m not too concerned with my weight as I can feel that my body composition is changing for the better and my legs are getting way bigger and more defined. I also noticed how much fitter I am when riding the bike now.
I am going to try and get to the BMX track tomorrow too to see if if transfers to the track or not but I’m guessing it will.
I have been researching how to stop the glasses fogging up and I am trying coating the lenses in toothpaste and washing it off as it’s pretty much free as I have toothpaste already. The other solutions were all £10 or over so figured I’d try the free solution first.
I ate my breakfast at 9am so I will go for a ride after 11am. I am planning to go to Bristol and back on the cycle path and then maybe do the 2 tunnels and back to add some extra miles.
As soon as I started riding I knew that today would have to be an active rest day so I went to the end of the 2 tunnels and back at a steady pace.
I have now completed 108 miles of my 300 mile challenge.
10/09/2020 – Day 32
Went out earlier today as had a lot to do at work today. Went for my ride at 11am which was a lot quieter on the way out but was getting busy on the way home. My legs were really heavy this morning but my back was feeling much better.
I have now completed 97 miles of my 300 miles for the month.
I wore my new glasses today which was a good idea as the flea were out in swarms today! Had an issue with the glasses fogging up before I started due to the face mask by once I was riding I pulled the mask down a bit and they were ok.
09/09/2020 – Day 31
Went out at lunchtime again to Midford and back.
My legs felt really heavy today but it was less busy than yesterday as I went an hour later.
08/09/2020 – Day 30
Went out for a quick spin at lunch time today. Just went to Midford and back along the 2 tunnels but it was enough to help my back a bit.
It was really busy today with loads of bikes and walkers and dogs loose on the cycle path. I got stuck behind a group of guys from a few towns away so who were on a much longer ride than me so I got held up a bit but never mind.
07/09/2020 – Day 29
I miscalculated my rota and planned to ride to Bristol this morning when in fact I was supposed to be working 🤦♂️ Luckily i was running late for the ride and got a call before I left 😂.
My back was really hurting after sitting for 12 hours so I didn’t go out on the bike and rested instead.
06/09/2020 – Day 28
Weight was 107.4kgs this morning which means that I have actually put on 0.3kgs this week.
My conjunctivitis is also getting worse so all in all not the best start to the week 😭
Chilled all day and then went out for a steady leg spin along the 2 tunnels.
I have now done 75 of my 300 miles so going well. I’m really sore today but plan to do a Bristol ride in the morning.
05/09/2020 – Day 27
Woke up later today and found my itchy eyes that I thought was allergies is actually conjunctivitis!
Decided to take it easy today and did the 2 tunnels with my son. So we basically did a slow (11.1mph) just under 11 miles:
So I have done 62 of my 300 miles this week already 😁
04/09/2020 – Day 26
Slept in until 9am this morning then ate breakfast and chilled for a couple of hours and then rode to Bristol and back on the cycle path:
Took it easy but still managed 23 PB’s on segments so pretty chuffed. My right foot started going numb about 3 miles from bath and was really painful by the time I got home. But 10 minutes lying on the sofa sorted it out.
I have now done 52 out of my 300 miles for the month 😁
03/09/2020 – Day 25
Haven’t had a chance to ride today as my parents came to visit this afternoon so I am taking today as a rest day.
I am riding to Bristol and back tomorrow so I will do loads of extra miles to make up for the lack of miles today.
02/09/2020 – Day 24
Woke up later today but still really tired. Did a leasurely ride of the two tunnels and back to get today’s miles in. Still managed to get a few PB’s.
01/09/2020 – Day 23
Woke up at 11am after 3 hours sleep and went out along the 2 tunnels and back. I felt the lack of sleep but it went well.
So that’s 11 miles off of the 300 miles so 288.72 miles to go.
The new bike felt really good and much less pain than on the old bike 😁
