Roof Bars and bike rack finally on the car!

roofbars

So this morning as I had nothing to do and they have been annoying me as they are taking up loads of space in my lounge I finally got my roof bars and one of my bike carriers on the car!

I have had the bike carriers for about 4 years and when I stopped using my Focus I took them off and left them in the garage! I have had the roof bars for over a year since I gbought my Jazz but I have never got around to putting them on! A few weeks ago I brought the roof bars and bike carriers in from the garage into the lounge to put them on the car then decided they were a ball ache and I couldn’t be bothered and went riding the bike instead and they have sat in the lounge getting in the way and making the room look untidy since then!

As my son was in work at 9am this morning and we are going to ride this afternoon I decided to make putting the roof bars and bike carriers on the car as taking the front wheels off of the bikes all the time to fit 2 bikes in the car is super annoying! It is also messing the wheels up as they are not designed to be taken off and put on 2-4 times a day!

Unfortunately I only had enough of the metal brackets available to put one bike carrier on the roof bars so I have ordered 3 more so that I can fit the other bike carrier when they arrive then I can stick 2 bikes on the roof at a time and clean out the back of the car and use it as a car again and organise my helmets, body armour, gloves, shoes and tools properly to make it way easier to find everything when we get ready!

I have also sorted out the forks on the BlackMarket 24″ so that the axle has no play on it anymore so I can now ride that while I learn to jump properly! It also means that I don’t have to shell out £110 on some new forks like I thought that I had to 🙂  Once we have ridden today I will also swap over my S&M bars from the Supercross onto my Curtis and then I may not mess my wrist up quite as much as I am at the moment!

I am thinking that I may get my Standard R125 Cruiser back off of my friend’s daughter and build it up with fatter tyres to use and an in between bike from the BlackMarket to the Curtis so have a 24x 1.75 on the back and a 24 x 2.10 on the front maybe or 24 x 1.75 on both wheels! Either way it would be a good transition bike from the jump bike to the super stiff and light Curtis! I also don’t really want to be using the Curtis all the time in the wet winter weather as the Onyx bearings do not like the damp at all 🙁
