Back to BMX Training Day 4 – 04/01/2024 – GT Pro Series 24″ all built up

So last night my back got worse and worse to the point where it woke me up every time I turned over which was a bit crap and also meant that I didn’t sleep well even though I didn’t wake up until 7:30! Luckily today is an active rest day so I can hopefully get my back better to do sprints tomorrow still!

When I got up I did my weigh in and i was still 107.0kgs so no weight lost but none gained either! I then cancelled my lunchtime plan to ride with a friend and changed my tip appointment until next Tuesday so that I can heal my back before breaking down furniture and doing more gardening etc!

I then got the new break and lever onto the GT Pro Series 24″ and the Burgtec pedals and the GT seat onto the cooldown post as well so it is now ready for sprints! I hate the Inspyre bars as they just feel bad but I will make do with them for now as they are the only bars that I have as I lent my StayStrong flat bars to. friend!

I am just torquing all the bolts to the correct specs and then I need to pump up the tyres and its ready to test tomorrow!

I have just bought a new Tioga Powerblock 24×1.6″ tyre from Crucial and when it arrives I will replace the rear Tioga Powerblock 24×1.60 tyre that is on the Curtis with the new one then move the used 1.6 from the Curtis to the GT Pro Series 24″ and then move the 1.75 tyre from the rear wheel to the front wheel on the GT and get rid of the 2.1 powerblock which is massive and just feels wrong! Doing this means that my Curtis has a brand new rear tyre on it for when I start using it and the GT will have the same tyre setup as the Curtis so the gearing should be similar even though its 1 tooth higher on the front!

I will try and use the GT as my Sprint bike tomorrow for my 15m sprints then I can give it a shakedown before I use it in anger with the 60m sprints on Monday morning! I still think that the seat post will be too long so I will see how it feels and take my hacksaw and cutting guide with me to get a decent seatpost length for the GT to be able to ride sat down and still be able to sprint as I think that the seat will get in the way with sprints at the moment as its really long!
