Puncture on road bike after first ride :-(

I woke up this morning feeling really good after my ride yesterday and was going to go for a ride early until I looked at my bike and found that my new road bike had a puncture from the ride yesterday 🙁

I didn’t have a spare tube so decided to catch up on my chores instead so I got on with cleaning the house and by lunch time I was 90% finished with the cleaning and also I had put some blinds in the lounge that I had been putting off since April too!

At 1pm I had also done 4352 steps just from cleaning and taking some stuff to my garage which is about 100m from my house! Not bad going really.

As I was cleaning it suddenly dawned on me that I have another road bike wheel off of my Allez Elite that I am not using  as it is being used on the rollers at the moment so I will put that wheel onto the Allez 16 and go for a ride later.

I have setup the jump bike with the adapters which work really well for stopping the wheel moving, there is now another issue with the wheel not moving once the wheel is tightened down! it looks like the issue is that the chain tugs now rub on the single speed adapter and stop the wheel moving!

I have decided to give up on the build and sell the bits that I can sell and then put the money towards buying a complete jump buy when I can. I am not that bothered about it to be honest so I may just stick to the BMX and suck it up and start sending it on the BMX as I will ultimately have to send it in races so I may as well get used to jumping on the BMX.

I may have sold my 20″ dialled BMX and a freestyle cruiser to the BMX club to use as club bikes so I am thinking that I may invest that money in a new Yess Type X frame and then just ride that as I know I like the Yess frames and I am faster than I have been on most bikes on it so it makes sense to race on a Yess again, I also jumped a lot better on the Yess than I have on any other bike that I have ridden. I want to try a pro cruiser frame this time instead of a pro xl as I think that the pro xl was a little long for me with a rider area of 22.5″. The pro has a rider area of 21.6″25 which seems to be a better fit for me:

Pro Cruiser – 3lb 6oz (1530g)

  • RA: 21.625 / TT: 20.375 / CS: 15 / BB: 11.75 / HT: 73.5°

Pro XL Cruiser – 3lb 8oz (1587g)

  • RA: 22.5 / TT: 21.375 / CS: 15 / BB: 11.75 / HT: 73.5°

Luckily Crucial has one in stock at the moment so fingers crossed that they still do when I have the money.

I really like the Dialled mx24r frame but it is not as stiff as I would like and I know that the Yess is really stiff and a lot of really fast riders ride them so I am not going to need to replace it any time soon! It will definitely do me for the next few seasons and will do me fine for the worlds. The Yess frames can also be made to work with disk brakes if needed so the next upgrade may be a set of carbon rims with Onyx ultra disc brakes on them.   I will have to save the the money first and I will most likely get them just before the worlds so that they give me an extra boost of confidence at the worlds.
