Parts Arrived and Sprints.

My parts arrived from Crucial this morning at 8am so I now have a new headset, new brake cable and new brake blocks to make the bike feel a bunch better.

I also got around to building my new ParksTools workstand as the clamp on my old one snapped so I am going to use it as a wash stand now. Building the ParkTools Stand was a bit of a mission but I got it together and it fits in my lounge a lot better than my old one did as it only has 2 feet instead of 4.

I am on a half day now so I will get the S&M on the stand and replace the parts with issues and see if I can dial it in a bit more. Once that is done I need to tidy my flat as it is getting out of control again as you can see from the picture below:

So the parts that I have to fit today are:

Answer Slick Cable

CIARI ANELLI 1 1/8 Headset Spacers

Shimano BR-M770 Brake Shoe Set

Staystrong 1 1/8 Sealed Headset

The headset needed replacing as the bottom bearing fell apart when I took it out of my Chase frame and it would not go back together properly so the headset is a bit crusty at the moment. As I said before the brake cable that was on the bike is disgusting and makes the brake feel terrible! And the pads were getting worn so I decided to change them as well. There is actually nothing wrong with the current headset spacers but I wanted 2 Ciari spacers instead of one Ciari and one carbon spacer to make it look better. This is a bit more important on this frame as its really pretty so needs to look its best! At the weekend I will pick up the S&M forks from the guy who sold me the frame then the bike will be finished.

The headset feels amazing and the brake feels better but I think that I will get a new one before the regional at the beginning of next month as it still feels bad so I think this may be the brake set that had issues with the springs that I changed before and put back in my parts box! As Crucial will be at Cyclopark at the weekend and I am picking up my Onyx rear wheel I might as well fit a new brake at the same time as fitting the new back wheel and new forks so the bike is 100% new and ready for the National!

Sprints went better than expected tonight. I got 6x 25m sprints done and 2 50m sprints before my knee got too painful and I had to stop. I felt really good other than the knee and my training partner said that I was looking really strong and tight tonight and not moving around too much like I have been doing recently. Another good sign is that my last 25m sprint was my fastest which means that I still wasn’t tired so my fitness is definitely improving.

The battery’s finally gave out on the timing system today which is not bad since they have been in the system since I bought it on 08/11/2021 so they lasted 135 days or roughly 4.5 months so pretty good. Weirdly the lack of battery caused the app to keep crashing and resetting which is weird and I also lost all the users added in the app as well which is really weird but at least we will know what this behaviour means next time!
