Now it’s getting serious! Qualified for the world’s in July.

I found out today that I have qualified to race at the World Championships in France in July next year which is amazing news. BUT it also means that I have to get serious with my training if I don’t want to get severely shown up!

On a positive note it is 278 days until we race so I have plenty of time to get fit and get a lot better 😁

The plan from tomorrow until the new year is to walk in the morning again then in the evening when I am not playing basketball or racing at Bristol I plan to do an hour or more on the road bike on the rollers in front of the TV followed by stretching.

At weekends I plan to do training and gates at Bath on Saturday and then a pump track on Sunday to finish off the week.

Jump bike

I have almost finished the jump bike now and once that is done I will start going out on it and working on my manuals and wheelies as they are a week point in my riding at the moment. Once I am used to the training load I will then have a couple of days at the track in the week on the jump bike as I also need to work on my jumping!

Unfortunately the frame has a weird bottom bracket type (Spanish BB) so I have had to buy a new profile one from the source BMX which will be here in 2-7 days so I will not be able to ride it just yet! I also picked up some smaller vans tyres from my friend’s house tonight so I am hoping that they will allow me to slam the back wheel a bit more as the tyres on it at the moment are too wide so the wheel rubs. The vans tyres are 26×2.30 and the crazy bobs that are in it at the moment are 26×2.35 so not a lot of difference. If it comes to it I will have to buy a 26×2.10 vans tyres from the internet and keep the 26×2.30 on the front.

After the SW champs on the 13th of November,  I will switch to riding exclusively the 20″ with flats and hang up the cruiser for the winter as the last time I did this I got way faster when I got back on the cruiser. I think that this may be because the 20″ doesn’t roll as well as the 24″ so when you get back on the cruiser it feels way easier.

I plan to still race the crusier over the winter with clips as that is what I will be racing at the world’s.

I will re-evaluate my fitness at Xmas time but the plan is to start adding sprints sessions and weights sessions into the mix from the start of January so I have 3 months or so to get ready for the new season to start and 7 months before the worlds which is a good amount of time to get focussed.
