I woke up without an alarm at 5:30 this morning and chilled on my phone until 7:30 then I got ready and then got the mtb sorted with flat pedals and pumped the tyres up as I haven’t ridden it for at least a couple months if not more so they were a bit flat. I then loaded it into the car only to find that I was blocked in by a delivery lorry trying to deliver to my neighbour!
As I was blocked in and the neighbour wasn’t there I washed my car while I was waiting and then took the car to Trow to my friends garage to get a new MOT. When I got there I took the bike out and put the front wheel back on and then got the rest of the stuff and dropped the keys off then rode home to Bath along the canal:
The ride home was really nice and chilled to be honest but it got really busy the rearer to Bath I got but I still managed to average 11.6mph which is pretty good as I wasn’t in a hurry and was using the ride as zone 2 training really!
I was surprised how easy the ride was and I didn’t really breath too heavily at all so it was deffo a zone 2 ride 🙂
I covered 15.21 miles in 1:18:53 and only climbed 138ft with most of that being the road up to my house so the flatness of the ride explains the lack of out of breathness 🙂
I have definitely improved my fitness while walking and riding to the track all the time while my car has been off of the road and I am definitely changing my body composition for the better (burning fat) so for the winter I just need to keep doing what I am doing.
I have decided that I will do a shorted walk in the morning before work just to get me awake and firing on all cylinders then do my main workout in my lunch our or after work depending if there is a training session that evening or not! I will also try and continue to ride the ebike to the track instead of taking the car unless I need to take the Cruiser to the track in which case I will need to go in the car! That way I can keep getting fitter and lighter slowly over the winter without burning out and getting injured like I usually do when I do too much too quickly.
I have decided to give myself until next month to start doing weights again as I haven’t had time to organise my gym area so that the olympic bar will fit in there again and I haven’t cleared out my garage either so that I can get a lot of the stuff from my room into it so make space in my bedroom. At the weekend I did get my son’s new draws built and in place so this weekend I will get him to sort his clothes so that they are all in one place and they are in his new draws AND his old wardrobe at the moment. So I just have more mess than normal.
Over the next week I plan to get a bunch of my old BMX bits and bikes that I don’t use cleaned up and on FaceBook Marketplace to get sold to clear more space in the garage to put the old wardrobe and draws from my room to make room for the gym to be setup again! I also want to get some cash up together to buy a new ebike as mine is starting to fall apart so will need a lot of money spent on it soon or being replaced. I am looking at getting one of these:
The frame is based of one of Calibre’s hard tail mountain bike’s which all the reviews say has spot on geo so it will handle well. It also has gears which will make it a bit faster than my current ebike which is single speed. It will also handle going off road so I can start to go through the wood when riding too and from the track which will be safer and more fun than riding on the road as well so its a win win. Once I get this bike I will then sell my current ebike as a repair project as it needs the rear wheel rebuilding among other things but it has served it purpose and proven that an ebike is perfect for me around town and then if I need to I can live without a car.
I have over half of the money owing to me for bikes that I have sold already so if I can sell my son’s jump bike and all of the frames and forks I have left over and my road bike I will have more than enough to buy the Calibre.
Before I buy the Calibre I want to use the money from the sold bikes to get my Suzuki TSR 200 back on the road and my Ford Focus and then sell them both too then I will have more than enough money to buy the Calibre and pay off a chunk of cash off of my ever growing debt!
I have decided that I need to declutter my life again as over the past year I have bought more and more stuff after spending a year decluttering so no I have accumulated more crap than I had before! Once the garage is clear of the Motorbike and all the excess bikes I can then see about using it as a gyn then I can get my bedroom sorted as a bedroom again and then make a start at decluttering my flat as well!
At the moment I am thinking of keeping the following bikes that I use a lot:
Curtis Cruiser
Chase OS20 (To be replaced by Standard OS20 Frame when it arrives)
Ebike (To be replaced by Calibre Shift 27 when I have the money)
DMR Jump Bike (may replace the frame with a Curtis frame later on)
Vitus MTB
Allez Elite Road Bike (Needs a service and gears sorting as was configured as single speed but didn’t work properly)
I am not using the following bikes so they can be sold:
Specialised Allez roadbike
Airdrop Fade Jump Bike
Sunday 24″ park BMX
Inspyre 24″ Frame, Forks and Bars
Inspyre 20″ Frame
Dialled 4X frame
NS Metropolis Jump Bike Frame
Octane One Zircus Jump Bike Frame
If I sell all of the above bikes and parts at a low fair price I will make just over £2000 which is enough to get the Ford Focus and the Motorbike serviced and MOT’d to sell and then I can get about £3500 ish for them so I will have plenty of cash for the Calibre once everything is sold and to pay off a big chunk of my debts too 🙂
