New bike day :-) Building up the Cult Vick Behm Pro Race Bike

So I woke up and felt like crap so I didn’t go to the gym today again! I am going to wait and see if I am any better later in the week before going to the gym I think!

I was on a half day today and luckily for me the frame, forks, bars and wheels all arrived by 3 pm so I dragged myself out of bed and got to building my new Cult Vick Behm Pro Race Bike 🙂

I am just off out to the garage to steal the seat off of the Sunday Wave C and then I have to put on a brake cable and then its all done until the chain arrives which should be tomorrow or Thursday at the latest so I will have the bike up and running by the weekend 🙂

I need to buy some matt black car touchup paint as the silver on the spider on the cranks really annoys me but other than than its all good! The blue hubs are a bit shit too but they will do until I can afford some Halo wheels to replace them with. The Halo sub 4 wheels are about £410 for a set so I will have to put up with the Haro wheels for a while yet! To be honest I will probably leave the Cult as it is now and start saving money to build up the Standard OS20 as it needs to get build before the end of the summer 🙂

I am thinking that I will use the Cult as my winter bike as well so I will most likely wreck the Haro wheels before upgrading to the Halos at the end of the winter so I have nice new shinny wheels for the summer 🙂 The only other thing that will need upgrading at some point is the cranks as they are my Amazon test cranks from when I wanted to see if moving from 175mm to 170mm was a good idea or not and it was!

My idea at the moment is to try and pick up some second hand DXR’s at some point and then move them to the Curtis or the Standard OS20 then I can move the Saint 170mm cranks off of the Curtis onto the OS20 then eventually onto this bike and I can retire the amazon cranks and keep them as my spare cranks going forwards!

So I got the Sunday out of the garage and took the seat off and it went better on the Black Market so I put it on there and put the my Seattle BMX S&M Hoader cammo seat on the Cult and I think they both go really well on the bike that they are on now 🙂

I will need to cut down the seatpost on the Cult a bit but other than that the seat looks OK! I think once its slammed it will look OK. I am not sure about the way the 46 x 17 gearing looks on the Cult either so I may well buy a new 44t chain ring when I get paid next month and then swap the gearing to 44 x 16 as I think it will look better. I may also get a fatter front tyre and then switch the 20 x 1.75 tyre onto the back as the 20 x 1.60 tyre looks a bit skinny for the riding that I will be doing. Next pay day I will buy a bunch of the ride Now inner tubes from Alibaba as they are only £6 each and they are really small so I can pack a few in a bag and easily carry them with me.

For now I will get the chain on when it arrives and get the brake setup then just ride the bike for now 🙂
