Went to Trow tonight and met up with my friend and his daughter and did sprints again.
After so much time off the bike I was feeling a bit out of sorts and the session was really hard. I managed all of my 25m sprints but called it a day after 2 50m sprints as I was feeling sick and dizzy so I decided not to push too much.
After adding the times to the spreadsheet I was pleasantly surprised to see that I wasn’t too far off of my pb times from the other week and the times and considering I have basically been bed ridden for over a week they were not too bad at all!
Date | Fastest 25m LFF | Fastest 25m RFF | Fastest 50m LFF | Fastest 50m RFF
24/11/2021 | 3.993 | 3.950 | 6.655 | 6.591
07/12/2021 | 4.004 | 4.012 | 6.735 | n/a
Difference | 0.011 | 0.062 | 0.080 | n/a |
This also highlights the benefits of the timing system when doing sprints as I felt like I was really slow tonight and it was really hard going but I was actually 0.0x of a second down on my fastest times. Without the timing I would have thought that the session was a waste of time but actually it showed that I was pushing really hard even if it felt slow and hard at the time!
This weekend I am going to cut my sprint stand down a bit more as I didn’t feel like doing it this week and I am glad that I didn’t as it made it easier to compare times from the previous sessions to see how I had been affected by being in bed for just over a week!
Another benefit of not doing anything for all that time was that my knee was pain free so I guess that the time off the bike gave the knee time to heal 🙂
