Managed to wake up this morning

This morning I managed to wake up at 5:30 as planned for the first time this week! I got out of bed showered, got dressed, packed my bag and walked to the office.

I had to upgrade a server while in the office so I did that and then rode the bike that had been left in the server room for me (I had lent it to a friend a few weeks ago and he had left it in the server room for me to pick up). I pushed the bike from Lidl home as my shoulder was hurting.

By the time I got home I had done 3874 steps so way more steps than the last couple of days combined already!

From riding the road bike I was able to see just how much better my shoulder is getting. Its hard to see any change when you are doing the same things all the time but I have been avoiding the road bike for a few months as it hurt my shoulder but riding it today showed that I have gained a lot of movement in my shoulder since then as I was able to ride the road bike comfortably sat down but it hurt a bit when I stood up. Last time I road it on the rollers I wasn’t even able to reach the handlebars pain free!  This morning I was able to ride on the hoods pain free so that is about a 6-8 inch increase in range of motion in a couple of months so pretty good.

Unfortunately now that I have started riding the BMX again my hernia is starting to play up again! It was sore just walking to work this morning and i have noticed that my right testicle is swollen and I couldn’t lie on my front last night as it hurt!  I will have to go see the doctor again as soon as I can to get it looked at and get a referral to my BUPA scheme that I have through work. Hopefully they will do more than just say rest for a month or so and come back if its not better like my doctor did!

I am still going to train tonight and race at the weekend but I need to get it sorted as it is really uncomfortable!

Went to coaching tonight and rode the Yess and it felt so much better than the DMR so I am riding that at the weekend for sure. My gates were amazing tonight although my 3-5 pedals leave a lot to be desired! And my manuals were way better on the Yess too. I had forgotten how nice the Yess feels to manual! I did pull a muscle in my calf during warm up so I need to keep an eye on that but it felt OK when riding apart from when I did a pedal manual on the table top at the end of the session and it hurt a bit.

I have decided to have a chill session on at Bath Track tomorrow and then do gates at Bristol on Saturday to get ready to race on Sunday.

The Yess is looking really good and the Gusset Slink Bling half link chain really allowed me to get the rear wheel in the correct position so although I don’t like the colour of the chain it works really well:

I would have preferred a black solid link chain but they are all out of stock so this will do for now. I am thinking that I will see if I can get over to Curtis Bikes and pick up my Onyx rear wheel to race at the weekend as it rolls so much better than the forward wheel does although the Forward one is pretty good to be honest but you can’t beat an Onyx wheel! I am also going to swap the tyres out for my Tioga Power blocks as I prefer them over the tyres that are on the bike at the moment! I will also swap the tubes for Tubolitos as well as they help make the bike feel super fast!

Steps wise I am already at 11062 steps for the day so I have actually managed to get over my 11000 step target for the first time in 8 days!!
