Injured again!

bandaged head

So I did something to my knee at work yesterday so it is really sore this morning so I have decided to dial back on the training again and hold off on sprints until my knee is better and/or I lose some weight as I think that I was trying to run before I could walk again and I need to dial in my expectations as I am not 20 any more 🙁

So I am again changing my training but this will be the last time for now!

My training is now going to look like:

DAY Exercise AM Exercise Lunch Exercise PM
Monday Walk 2 Tunnels Mtb Rest
Tuesday Walk Track (Manuals) Weights
Wednesday Walk Track (Jumping) Rest (Working)
Thursday Walk Track (Jumping) Weights
Friday Walk 2 Tunnels Mtb Gates
Saturday 2 Tunnels Mtb Pump Track Rest
Sunday Longer Mtb ride Rest Rest

By walking first thing Mon-Friday I hope to slowly and consistently drop weight over time as well as get the benefits of less aches and pains during the day and elevated mood as well without the risk of injury and burnout that I would have had doing sprints in the morning. I have decided that I will start taking my lunch break at work and shoot home and do the 2 tunnels then go home and shower and go back to the office afterwards on a Monday and then on a Friday I will also do the 2 tunnels as well at lunch time to add some more cardio. I will also get up early at the weekends and do the 2 tunnels on Saturday and a longer ride on a Sunday morning so get some more cardio in and build my aerobic base fitness some more! With my 3 lunch time Track Sessions, Friday gates and a pump track at the weekend I am getting enough BMX specific training for now anyway so working on my cardio fitness which is severely lacking anyway is a better option at the moment as it is way less stressful to my knee than sprints etc.

I think that this schedule will be the most beneficial to my rehab and best help me reach my weight goals (lose 25kgs) over the next 6 months or so. Just walking in the mornings has seen me lose almost 5kgs with very little effort so far this year so adding the track sessions and mtb rides at lunch times will definitely help with the weight loss and improve my fitness no end.
