I got up early to go to the track and setup the gate ready for the SW Development training that was going on today. I was planning on riding after the training but I am so sore that I am going to rest today as I am planning to pop to the gym in a bit and pick up my fob ready to get up at 5 and go to the gym in the morning. I will be a bit limited on time as I have to wake my son up for 7am so I may have to do a shorter workout to make sure that I get back in time. This is only an issue this week as my ex wife has tested positive for covid so he has to stay with me this week so I will use this week to gauge how long the workout will take etc ready to really start my workouts next week.
As I wasn’t riding today I have given my bike a proper clean ready to swap some parts around this afternoon to get all my bikes how I like them so that I can start training properly Monday afternoon.
Basically I am swapping my stem for a front loader stem, I am taking the forks off of my Speedco and putting them on the Meybo. The forks that are on the Meybo at the moment will then go onto my Son’s bike so that I can use it on the rollers on Thursday night to do interval training.
Gym wise I am still deciding which days will be leg days and which days will be upper body days. But it is looking like Monday and Fridays will be best suited to to leg days as they are the only days during the week that I do not have training in the evenings. I race, have gates or play basketball on Wednesday nights so I will not be able to do any of that after a weights session in the morning at my current level of fitness so Wednesday Morning is going to be a rest morning. Tuesday evenings I do sprints and I am starting interval training on the rollers on Thursday nights so I will see if I can cope with doing upper body weights in the morning and then put in maximum effort in the evening or not. I am not going overboard on the upper body weights as I want to get a lean as possible for July so I will be doing light weights and high reps to build up muscle endurance so I will not be over exerting myself too much so I think that I will be OK. I am most excited about starting skipping again as part of my warmup when I am at the gym to see if it will drop weight like everyone on the internet says that it does! I am starting off with a 10 minute skip as my warmup when I get to the gym as I will already be warm from cycling to the gym especially when I start practicing manuals on the way there 🙂 When I get a bit fitter I am hoping to add a couple mornings a week where I just go to the gym and skip for 30 minutes, stretch and then go home as Skipping for 30 minutes a day is supposed to really burn the weight off as apparently 10 minutes of skipping is equivalent to 30 minutes of running at an 8 minute mile pace in terms of calories burnt so 30 minutes is equivalent to 1.5 hours of running 🙂 As I said before skipping is also really good for building leg strength/ endurance as well as increasing foot speed and co-ordination so it should hopefully really help me to get back in shape.
Going on the you tube channels and video’s that I have seen people have lost at at least 45kgs in 6 months by skipping 3 times a week for 30 minutes so that would get me well below my target weight of 85kgs to 63kgs by July if I was able to lose as much weight. To hit my target weight of 85kgs I only need to lose 23kgs which is basically half of the weight lost in a lot of cases on the internet. This has got me thinking that I should maybe try and aim for 75kgs instead of 85kgs as when I was at peak fitness I was between 70-75kgs. This would mean losing 33kgs in just over 6 months. We will see how this month goes and change my goals if necessary.
I think that my withdrawal from Coca Cola has now fully cleared and I am not even having cravings any more which is great. I am also feeling loads better as the bloating in my stomach has gone and I have little to no indigestion or acid reflux any more which has really improved my mood 🙂 My body is also changing and although according to the scales I have gained weight I am definitely noticing my body fat getting lower especially in my face. Also my clothes are fitting much better already too and i have had to tighten my race pants as they were starting to fall down all the time which is a good sign. I am sure that once I start in the gym regularly and also start training harder on the BMX my weight will naturally drop lower and lower so I am not too worried about the initial weight gain as a lot of it will be water eight while my body get used to my increased water consumption and some of it is also muscle where. I have started training harder on the bike over the past couple of weeks. My legs are definitely way more muscly than they were at the start of the year. I am also trying to focus more on full laps in my on the track training over the next couple of months to try and get in race shape so that will burn a lot more calories than my usual first straight training sessions that I have been doing recently!
**** Update****
So I got to the gym at about 13:00 and ran the bell and found that there were no staff in! I’m pretty sure a Staff member left after we walked off but they obviously wanted to go to lunch so I didn’t bother to ask! I will have to go in tomorrow in the afternoon as I am off anyway! Hopefully there will be some staff that want to help this time!
