Horrible nights sleep – 30 day walking challenge day 1

I had a really bad nights sleep due to my lungs gurgling all night due to illness induced asthma which didn’t go away even stop after taking my inhaler! I gave up sleeping about 4:30 and wasted time on the phone for an hour before getting up and going for a walk via the office to pick up a laptop that I need to re-install this morning.

The walk was fine, I was a little bit stiff but once I got going it was OK and I was coughing a fair bit but I actually feel a bit better for walking and my lungs definitely feel clearer now. Unfortunately it was dark for 100% of the walk so not sun this morning 🙁 This is going to really mess my morning routine up while I wait for the sun to catch up with the time change!

This morning I walked 3.80 miles in 1h 2 minutes and did 7282 steps.

I am now going to do my upper body weights routine and I can use the new Barbel and the new curl bar which arrived yesterday 🙂

The Olympic bar actually makes bench presses easier as I guess it spreads the weight out more and the weight is further away from the shoulders I guess. I also noticed that my right elbow wasn’t clicking any more which it was with the old bar so thats a win win really. I upped the weight on the bar from 25kgs to 30kgs including the 20kg bar as the 25kgs felt too light! I also upped my curl from 10kg to 12kgs + bar so I am definitely getting stronger.

After doing my weights I am currently on 8010 steps so I will go for a walk at lunch time to get some sun and get over the 10000 steps. I may then ride the ebike to the track and pick up the DMR ready to go to gates tomorrow.

I have decided that I will got to gates at Bristol tomorrow night to see if I can actually get out of the gate pain free at all as I have just about a month until the Bath regional so I am still not sure if I will be able to race or not. If I can’t gate on the jump bike then I may have to re-think my strategy and race on the Yess but I am hopeful that the DMR will be OK out of the gate. To be honest it may be batter if I am not too good out of the gate as I will have to learn to carry speed on the track instead of relying on getting out of the gate pretty quickly. As its my only race its not really that important anyway but I would still like to do OK.
