Got to the track early

So this morning I woke up did my weigh-in (down 0.1 kgs to 102.8kgs so moving in the right direction slowly! )  I then jumped on the computer and did some work until 6am then jumped into the shower then got dressed and put the bike on the roof and headed to the track for a ride.

When I got the the track and parked up I remembered to take a photo of the boot organiser and I can say that its made it so much easier already as it was so easy to find my gloves helmet and wrist brace as they are all in their place in the organiser 🙂  Its so much different to before when it took ages to find everything to go for a ride! The pump is just temporary and that space is reserved for our piss pot helmets. When I have some time I will sort the boot out properly as I literally dumped the organiser in the boot last night in the dark so there are loads of things still to organise and I want ot get the organiser pushed back against the seat but its working for now so all good 🙂 I have some stack-able shoe boxes on order from Amazon so I am thinking that I will use 3 or 4 of those to organise my shoes and also my tools etc to keep them all in one place but I will have to see how I can fit them in! I am hoping that I can fit them under the organiser so that everything is in one place but we will have to see when they arrive!

Once i had finished admiring my tidier boot I got the bike off of the roof and rode to the track. I got to the top of the start hill at basically 6:30 and then rode for 30 minutes and then called it a day and walked back to the car to get some steps in! I did mostly 3rd straights then about 6 first straights to finish off. It was decidedly wintery this morning and was really wet and not super enjoyable to ride in but it was fun none the less! I really need to adjust the brake to my liking as at the moment it doesn’t engage until the lever is at the grip which is a problem when my fingers are in between the lever and the grip! Lets just say that there were some squeaky bum moments going into the last berm 🙂 I will mess with the brake later on today before I go to the track again at lunch time!

As its now winter and I got eye fulls of track all session this morning I will get an mtb mudguard and stick it on the Standard so I don’t have to wear goggles over the winter! As I am writing I an still picking grit out of my eyes which is not fun 🙁

I am glad that I went to the track early and got out of the house for a bit and I have decided that I will hold off on the gym until it is too dark to ride at the track which I don’t think will be too long but while I can I want to make the most of the light mornings! Tomorrow I plan to go to the track again and do sprints in the car park so I need to load up the measuring wheel, line paint and my splats  as all of my marks from last year have gone so in the morning I will need to measure up and mark the 30m, 60m and 100m lines so that I can sprint over the winter! Until the 175mm cranks arrive later this week the sprints are going to be a bit ragged as the 180mm mess up my spin as they are too long for me to get my feet over the top of the pedal stroke or to curl them under at the bottom either! I have also noticed that my bike moves from side to side a lot probably due to the shortness of my legs! I hope once I am back on 175mm cranks everything will just work again and I can start working on speed again! This week I will just do the sprint sessions to get used to them and also to get some fitness in. I suspect although the sprints are not optimal they will still help a lot with my riding so they are worth doing.

When I start doing sprints for real I will mix it up between flat sprints, uphill and downhill sprints and luckily the track is at the top of a hill so I can get all 3 in from close to the track so I can park in the same place and go do all 3 types of sprint from there! This week I am only going to do flat sprints to get used to them then next week when the bike is fully set up I will sort out the uphill and downhill sprints as well!

At lunch time I decided to build my son’s chest of draws that we bought in Ikea at the weekend and it took me all of my 2 hour lunch break but I got it done and it is way better than the old one and fits in the space next to his bed perfectly.

After my shift I will move his clothes over to the new draws and organise his clothes so when he is here at the weekend he can organise find clothes!

Luckily I didn’t go to the track as the seat post that I ordered last week arrived although its not really needed now as I do not have a bike to put it on until the Cult Race 24″ arrives later this week! Once it is built up then the seat post will come in handy to ride to the office and the gym when I start in a couple of weeks!
