Got out on the bike this morning

So I got up at 6 am and did my weigh-in (102.8 kgs again today! ) I then got showered and dressed and loaded up the car and headed to patchway via the garage to fill up the car!

I got there a bit late as the road was closed and I got lost finding my way to the track the long way but I got there and did some warm up then did some full speed 1st and 2nd straights and a couple of 1st, 2nd and 3rd straights then I decided to try some 4th straights and nailed the manual on the 1st jump which made the straight so fast and easy to ride its unreal! I did 4 in a row then called it a day as I was feeling a bit tired so I headed home. I am super stoked that I now have over 1/2 the track dialled and smooth now! I didn’t get to jumping anything but the manuals were working at least!

When I got home I waterproofed the brick work at the back of the flat as it has been dry for a couple of days so was a good time to do it then I went back to bed after putting some washing in! Not a super successful day but better than the last week has been and I am feeling OK considering the amount of exercise I did! I am going to leave the hoovering and mopping until tomorrow as I can’t face it today!

I also swapped the new Staystrong stem onto my son’s Supercross and the Haro stem off of Supercross went onto the DK and I put the Haro bars back on there too.

I am going to work tomorrow but not go into the office as I am still a bit shit and don’t want to get anyone else ill!

I got a second wind about 19:00 and got the new cranks, pedals 41T Chain Ring and 18T cog onto the Curtis only to find that the cog was a wide cog not a narrow cog so I have ordered a narrow 18t cog now to get the Curtis all setup ready to use it for training at on Saturday!

During the week I will also swap the bars for the S&M bars off of the Standard 125R 24″ onto the Curtis and put the new white S&M 29er bars onto the Standard 24″ so both the Curtis and the Standard will have the same bars, stem, cranks but different gearing. The Curtis will have my new race gearing of 41 x 18 with a 24 x 1.6 rear tyre on it and the Standard currently has a 37 x 16 on  it but I will go to a 41 x 18 with a 24 x 1.75 rear tyre on it to make the gearing a little taller (53.54 compared to 54.70) and the Cult will be built up with a 42 x 18 and a 24 x 1.75 rear power block to have a roll out of 56.04. The current Curtis gearing is 36 x 16 with a 24 x 1.60 powerblock and has a roll out of  52.88 and the Standard currently has a 37 x 16 with a 24 x 1.75 powerblock for a rollout of 55.54.

The gearing on the OS20 with a powerblock os20 x 1.85 on the rear will be 54.92 so a little higher than the Standard 24″ with the 41 x 18 and a 24 x 1.75 powerblock. I have done a quick chart to compare the rollouts of the different bikes:

So basically the S&M and Cult will be over geared a little bit and if I use a 24 x 1.75 tyre on both bikes the Cruiser and OS20 will basically have the same rollout (54.7 vs 54.92) so that is something to think about going into the season if I plan to race both bikes at all.

I am just shopping for a chrome 18t cog and also another set of HT pedals to go on the Curtis then I can have a set to swap on to the OS20 when its built up once I have the wheels built!

I decided to hold off on the pedals until the OS20 is fully built as I will be riding it with flats over the winter anyway so there is no point getting pedals now! I did buy a Crupi 18t cog for the Curtis and also an 18t Profile Elite cog for the Standard then I can get that on a 41 x 18 gearing too to get all the bikes on similar gearing’s. I now have to get a bottom bracket tool as the one that I have does not fit the new Shimano BB that came with the DXR’s that I am trying to fit on the Cult to get the Amazon cranks on it to get it up and running.

I have just bought a bottom bracket adaptor to make the bottom bracket tool I have work with the new bottom bracket which should be here Wednesday or Thursday this week so I can then get the Cult up and running too 🙂 That will give the new wheels time to arrive too as they were posted last Wednesday so I am guessing that they are arriving soon. I believe that those wheels have a 17t cog on them so I will need to get another 18t cog for them to be usable on the cult. I have just found out that I only have one 41t Chain ring but 2 x 42 so I will run 42 x 18 on both the Standard 24″ and the Cult for now.  So by the middle of the week I will be able to get all 3 bikes setup with their new gearing’s and get on with riding!

I am excited to try the new shoes, 175mm DXR’s, S&M bars, HT pedals and a 41 x 18 gearing on the Curtis at the weekend as I haven’t ridden it for a while die to the longer cranks and crap weather that we have been having! I was going to ride it today but took the Standard as it already had 175mm cranks on it even though I really wanted to ride the Curtis today!

When I take the Standard’s wheel off to swap over the cog I will also put the new sprag and pulls in the hub as well to hopefully mean that the hub pedals backwards again as its a bit hard to pedal back at the moment even though its fine forwards! I think that there must be an issue with the sprag and pulls that are in there but if not at least it will have new ones anyway so it will basically be new again!

Considering I didn’t really go anywhere other than the rack for an hour I got in Almost 8000 steps (7955) today at home which is pretty good going.
