Had a really good weekend so far!
Friday
I went got to the track at about 11:30 and left at almost 18:00! We did a bunch of track work ready for the regional next weekend and then I rode the Jump bike for an hour or so! I didn’t really start jumping but I did get my manuals way better on the jump bike so not a wasted day! I was super tired after the track work as I am not used to hard work so I didn’t ride too much but it was a fun day. The Track looks great especially the first straight that had the takeoff lips on both jumps resurfaced and whacked (not by me I may add) so it is running the best that it has ever ridden. The track is also pretty much week free so looks amazing especially in the sun:
As I finished so late I was not able to get to my parents house so I wasn’t able to pick up my jet washer that I had lent to my Dad last week. I will have to pop over over the weekend so that I can get it to wash all my dirty frames and bikes and also I will need the batteries for my drill to finish up some other jobs!
Saturday
We ran gates as normal so I got to the track at about 11:30 again and left by about 14:30. I rode the Steel Panther and I did a bunch of gates but my legs were toast from Friday’s efforts so they weren’t great. It also too a few gates to get used to the bike again as I have been riding the jump bike a lot recently. I did a bit of work on my gates with a friend and he sorted out my issue with stopping pedalling after the snap as I was too crouched in my setup which was causing me to not get my head over the bars when I snapped and therefore the front wheel was coming up in the air causing me to stop pedalling to get it under control. I also worked on using the lights not the beeps which was challenging but I am getting there. When I got home I got on top of my washing and started organising my flat a bit.
Some of the Committee also painted the gate after the gates session had finished so it looks a lot less tired than it did before:
When I got home the draw support brackets had arrived so I tried to fix the draws but they were still not 100% as when the brackets are screwed in the pull the draw apart! To resolve this and get the draws squared up and strong before using the draw support brackets underneath to support the bottom of the draw I have bought some corner braces and draw corner brackets.Hopefully they help hold the draws together so hopefully I will have fully functional draws by the end of the bank holiday which will make my life much easier and way less stressful!:
The new support brackets will be here by 10pm tonight so I will moist likely sort the draws out after the gym on Monday morning.
I decided not to race at Merton tomorrow as my ankle was sore and I have way too many jobs to do at home to warrant taking the day for racing! After a long soak in the bath I went to bed early so that I can wake up earlier and get on with all of my jobs.
Sunday
I woke up this morning at 6am without an alarm and I have already made up a workout routine to follow for the next month or so and added a note in my phone so that I can keep a note of my workouts. I may change this for google sheets spreadsheet instead as it will be easier to keep track of and chart over time. I then got up and started to organise my flat. I have taken the 2 empty boxes from my S&M Steel Panther frame and my Octane One Zircus frame to the garage and emptied the shelving rack nearest the door and moved it into my coat cupboard and put all my parts tubs onto it already:
My lounge and bedroom are a lot emptier now as the plastic tubs were strewn around them both 🤦♂️
I now have to organise all of the tools and bike parts strewn around the flat into the tubs and then label the tubs so that I can find things easily. I have bought 4 more tubs to fill the rest of the top shelf and they will be here tomorrow so I can finish organising then.
I am a bit limited as to what jobs I can do today as I didn’t get over to my parents house on Friday I do not have my power washer or batteries so I can’t clean the bikes or do any drilling until I pick it up! I will most likely go up the track later today so I will go to my parents afterwards to pick up the power washer and bits as I am already part way there as the track is on the edge of town and closer to my parent house.
I took all of the draws out of the cupboard only to find that the back of the cupboard is full of mould 🙁 I have pulled it further away from the wall and sprayed the cupboard with mould killer so hopefully that will be enough to sort the mould out!
While I was waiting for the electric screwdriver to charge and the brackets for the draws to arrive, I got the Sunday Model C polished and built up as much as I could. I am waiting on the chain from the jump bike once it is broken down to build up the Zircus and also a set of bars as I am currently using the bars from my 20″ which I will need to build it up.
I really like this bike so I think I will keep it and then get pegs on it and try and learn grinds and park tricks once I have finished training for the Worlds and I can get injured again 🙂 It looks nice on the wall anyway so its not wasted. I have just ordered some blank 4 piece chrome bars from wiggle that will be here on Tuesday so that I can start building up the 20″ as well next week.
I also got the front wheel and found that it needs washers to fit my forks as the axel is too long to tighten up the wheel, I did however get the S&M Speedball 2.10″ tyre that I had in the garage and a new tube to fit and they look pretty good. I have already ordered some from the internet which will be here Tuesday I think. I was going to do the cranks too but the bottom bracket didn’t fit properly so I decided to shell out and get some race cranks. I went for Forward Joyride Pro Cranks as they were down to £125 (down from £140) so basically £100 less than the Cliq Weaponz cranks that I was thinking about getting. I also got a forward 44t chain ring and some Avian long chain ring bolts. They will all be here next week so I may have the bike built up before the Bath Regional next weekend so I may race 20″ for a change or double bike if I can get a transponder from somewhere. I am going to leave the 20″ in the container as a backup bike or the bike I can ride if I walk or ride up to the track then it is out of the house and also ready to use if I have an issue with my 24″ (Very likely with the Tubolito tubes!) and I want to progress from the Jump bike to a BMX when I am training on the jump bike I will have the 20″ in the container to use if needed.
I did a quick mockup of what the 20″ will look like and I think it will be pretty good especially when it has black cranks and chain ring and the black bars as well. I am thinking that the bigger tyres will make the bike feel better jumping so I may leave it as it is as I am not really going to race it seriously at the moment so the bigger tyres will be better for training:
I was taking my Son’s cranks off of the Dialled MX24R so I have stuck them on the 20″ to mock it up and it looks pretty good. I cant wait to get it built up next week:
Tomorrow I have to grab the Dialled Pro from the container and swap out the frame for my White pro frame that I bought the other week as the club chairman has said it is OK to swap frames with the club bike.
