Good gates session today.

gates

Went to the track for 12:30 and did gates which was really good but the bike felt odd still with the 24×1.75 tyre on it so while I am changing the brake later today I will swap the tyre back to the 24×1.60 Tioga power block that it had on it before.

I didn’t do my planned gates session today as there were a lot of super fast national riders at the session so I made the most of them being there and did more first straights trying to stay near them. I also focused on my manuals and they started to slowly get better over the session.

I had to cut the session a bit shorter as I hurt my wrist unbuckling my helmet which is really strange and it doesn’t hurt until I bend my hand back then I get a sharp pain! It is also clicking a lot so I have definitely tweaked something!

I am going to rest for the rest of the day and then maybe go out on the jump bike later tonight with my son and play manuals for a bit!

Luckily I have a couple of wrist supports so I will put one on and see if that helps. If it does I will strap the wrist up and go to the pump track tomorrow as well.

Apart from the tyre pushing the gearing off the Steel Panther is now feeling amazing. With the Onyx hub on it it freewheels a lot better now so it makes keeping speed a lot easier. My friend is going to swap the Profile elite bearings for me so they will be usable again.

I have been thinking about what to do with the 20″ Onyx wheels that I have and I think that I am going to take the hubs off of the rims and then take my profile elites off of the 24″ rims that they are on and then get the Onyx hubs built up on the 24″ rims and the Profile elites built up on the 20″ rims then I can use the Onyx wheels on my new Curtis Frame then it saves me £600 on getting my Worlds bike built up. I messaged Gary about getting the disk brake changed for a v brake and he said that it was fine so I will now get a v brake on the Curtis so I can use the new wheels when they are done.

I am going to call Crucial on Monday and see if they can build me up a front Onyx hub wheel to match the Onyx Wheel that I picked up last weekend then I can get both profile elite hubs serviced and then built up on for the 20″ so that I can use the 20″ as my training and pump track bike and the Cruiser for gates, sprints and racing and once the Curtis frame is ready I will be able to leave the Steel Panther built up and use that as my training bike or even just leave it hanging on the wall as its so pretty 🙂

I get my other Curtis back at the end of the season so I will get that converted to disk brake and 10mm dropouts and then I can use that frame as my training bike and my Son’s bike and then keep the Worlds Curtis as my main bike for gates, sprints and Racing. My Son’s current bike has a disk brake on it so I can use a lot of the parts on that bike to build up the spare Curtis and hopefully keep my Steel panther built up so that I can ride it if I feel like it.

The plan for next week’s training has changed a little too. I still plan to go to the gym on Tuesday and Thursday mornings but I plan to get more track time in this week to try and get smoother on the track for racing at the weekend. I also want to get some sprint sessions in to get my legs used to sprinting again before the Nationals so Monday, Wednesday mornings I plan to do some sprints sessions before work to get my legs geared up for racing at the weekend. At lunch times I plan to get to the track and work on pumping and manuals to try and get to carrying more speed at the weekend. I also need to try and get smoother for the weekend too.

I have just bought my Friday afternoon National Practice passes so I will be able to practice on the Friday ready to race on the Saturday. The practice time works out really well as I can book into the hotel and then ride over to the track to get ready for the practice session.
