So physically I am starting to feel a lot better than I have done for a while so I think that it is time that I start doing sprints again! I am planning to do sprints on Tuesday, Thursday and lunchtimes and follow the Tuesday sessions.
On Tuesdays I will do 5m, 10m and 15m sprints then do a timed gates session on the track.
On Thursday I will do 25m and 60m sprints followed by a track session
On Friday and Saturdays I will just do timed gates with my friends π
I am also going to try and get to gates at Andover Wednesday nights too.
So my training week will consist of:
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – sprints and Gates
Wednesday – Gates Andover
Thursday – Sprints
Friday – Gates
Saturday – Gates
Sunday – Free ride
So I have just got back from gates and I managed to get the timing system working and also get some gate times in as well π The new 172.5 mm cranks felt really good and my snap was as fast as normal and my gates were OK but I am losing distance from the fast guys with every pedal an I can feel that I am not in a sprinting position all the way down the hill so I really need to do sprints asap!
My times were OK and I was on the back wheel of the fast guys most of the time (both on flats too so no excuse for being slower π ) but it will be a good baseline to compare too going forwards.
My fastest time today was 2.382 which looking at the fastest times at the last regional isn’t too far off the fastest time in my age groupΒ at 2.301 and my fried who I also registered in the training to test it out who has the fastest gate time today of 2.222 so I have a ways to go but I haven’t been riding much this year so I can’t expect to be that fast yet.
Also a slow time now makes it easier to get a pb later on π So as a baseline its pretty good π
I am not chilling for a bit then I will get the remaining 4000 steps done so I can go to bed π
I am going to put the other Maxxis DTH tyre on the front wheel of the Curtis this week as I had forgotten how well they roll out of the gate π It will be good to see if that makes any difference or not! I’m going to keep the rest of the bike the same for a bit and get some times and then I will get the Onyx rear wheel on and see if that makes me any faster π
