BMX track training – Gates at Burnham on Sea
After my morning walk I went back to bed as I was really tired as I have just come off of night shift so I needed to catch up on sleep. I must have been a lot more tired than I thought as I woke up about 1:30 pm so I basically slept another 4 hours. When I woke up it was raining pretty heavily so I decided to ice my knee and chill in front of the TV which I did all afternoon. At about 5pm I got a message from friends to say that they were going to Burnham on Sea to do gates so I got showered and changed and headed over to Burnham.
We all arrived at the track at about the same time and got registered and started doing gates. I struggled to start with as I was hitting the gate all the time but once I got that sorted I was gating really well. I was also super happy that I was keeping up with my friends and that I was able to gain speed in my pedalling to the first jump which has been an issue for me this year so far. I was also surprised about my fitness and I no longer get out of breath sprinting to the first jump which makes me a little more confident about racing at the weekend! I would be happier if I had done some full laps but that is not a god idea with the current state of my knee.
We did about 15-20 gates so a decent workout and really good fun too.
When I got home I iced my knee again and then went to bed tired but happy.
