I woke up without the alarm this morning at 4:45 feeling really horrible, so I did my weigh in (still 103.9 kgs) and then went to bed again.
At about 9am I had a burst of energy so started working on the S&M as the chain arrived yesterday.
The wheel lined up perfectly with the 1/2 link chain but I have had to find a different locking ring and spacers as the ones I have on there are too big and interfere with the chain and make a noise. I have ordered a different kind of locking ring and spacers from Crucial so they will be here next week and I can finish the S&M build finally!
By 9:30 I was flagging again so I went back to bed and got a message from my friend that he was selling my old Dialled so I have just bought it back 🤣
I really liked the Dialled and only sold it because my friend was wanting a decent 20″ to race. So I now have it back and will ride it as much as possible. I am planning to use the Dialled as my container bike when the club gets the 2 new containers and we have more room for bikes in the current container, and probably the Standard 24″ as well then that gets rid of 2 bikes from home and means that I can ebike to the track at lunch time instead of driving which will save time and money especially going home from the track as its all down hill so super fast 🙂
I picked up the Dialled this afternoon at gates 🙂
While I was at the track I was able to swap the Answer Carbon forks and the S&M top loader stem with the kid buying my friends Son’s bike as I am way too heavy for the carbon forks and I wanted the Crupi I-beam 60mm stem for the dialled to make it a 21.75″ top tube as the frame is only a 21.5″ at the moment so now it is the same as my Standard 125R 24″ with a 21.5″ top tube and a 60mm Cruipi stem making it basically the same as my Curtis with a 21.75″ top tube and a 53mm Crupi stem. Looking at the photo I need to slam the back wheel as the back end is really long at the moment! I also need to stick some chain tensioners on it as it currently doesn’t have any which will not work for me as I seem to move wheels really easily due to being husky 🙂
While I have been in bed the last couple of days I have been thinking about my weekly routine and I am going to change my working hours to 7:30-17:00 with 2 hours for lunch to give me time to start going back to the gym again from the 01/10/2024. This will give me 2 hours in the morning to walk to the gym work out, walk home and get ready to start work by 7:30. So I can get 1 hour of walking and 1 hour of gym in before work 5 days a week. Doing this will mean that I can have lunch times and evenings to work on bike skills! I am thinking that the Cult may get broken down and put on the wall as I don’t need it as I can use the S&M as my ride to work bike and pump track bike. I can then stick the wheels on the Standard and then I can give the Profile Elite wheels a good service and then use then on the Old Curtis when I get it back then I have a set of wheels to train on and a set to work on or as spares! I am going to sell the jump bike as I’m not using but will keep the Black Market as I like it and if I ever get a Curtis 24″ Jump bike I can use the bits off the Black Market! I am deffo selling the GT and DK to clear space. And I will probably sell the Halo wheel set too.
I have also decided that I am not going to race again next year to get healthy and save money so I will again focus on getting fit and better on the bike! With the morning walk and gym taking care of the general fitness I will use my lunch hour to work on full laps (pump laps and full lap burners) and track skills in a more relaxed manner and forget about sprints at least until next year! After work I will try and do 30 minutes on the rollers and then go out for an hour on the bike and work on flat skills in a car park out of the way! This will mostly be working on manuals and pedal manuals but I can also take the high jump bar with me as well and work on bunny hops too.
This will mean that during the week I will have done 5 hours of walking, 4 hours of gym, 2 hours of rollers 4 hours of flat skills and 6 hours of track work then at weekends On Saturday early I will walk to the gym and do a 3rd legs session with my son then walk home and chill until the afternoon and then do gates at the track, On Sunday early I will get my son up and we will drive to a different track and have a play! I will take Mondays off so I will only do the Knees over toes training and walking first thing and no gym or track as I am in the office all day and on call all evening until 22:00. I think walking 7 days a week and gym 4 days a week over the winter should get me to my goal weight and a level of fitness where in the new year I can add 3 x sprints sessions to the mix as well to try and turn the gym strength into track speed 🙂 and the improved skills from 4 hours + a week working on bike skills should mean that I have the skills to use the extra speed without getting hurt too 🙂
My week will look something like this:
Day | AM | Lunch | PM |
Monday | Walk | Rest | Rest |
Tuesday | Walk + Legs | Track Skills | Rollers + Bike Skills |
Wednesday | Walk + Upper | Track Skills | Rollers + Bike Skills |
Thursday | Walk + Legs | Track Skills | Rollers + Bike Skills |
Friday | Walk + Upper | Track Skills | Rollers + Bike Skills |
Saturday | Walk + Legs | Gates | Rest |
Sunday | Track visit | Rest | Rest |
I am going to give the OS20 rims and hubs to my friend and also the 20mm Onyx hub and the Sun Envy rim to go on my Curtis too so in a couple of weeks the OS20 will be done and I can put the front wheel back on the DK and set it up to sell which will free up a bunch of space in the flat!
