First club race done

So tonight was the first club race that I have been able to ride in which was exciting ๐Ÿ˜

I did about as well as I expected and finished 4th overall and 2nd in my age group.

More importantly the OS20 ride really well. The hub is much better than it was yesterday and only slipped in a couple of gates all night which I can live with at the moment.

The gearing is deffo too high so I will drop a tooth at the front to go to a 42×17 for now which is a little higher than my cruiser gearing of 52.88 with 52.10 so almost the same gearing. I have a 42t chain ring and a new chain so I will change the gearing over in the morning.

The handlebars are also too high so I will get them swapped over when the 7.5โ€ ride bars arrive hopefully tomorrow. Then if I need to go to 8.0 ride I can just swap over the spacer to raise the bars a little.

Other than missing an Onyx rear hub out of the gate and missing disk brakes in the wet the Chase is riding really well. I canโ€™t wait to ride the Standard 125R OS20 frame when it arrives as I think that it will ride even better then the Chase does ๐Ÿคž

My focus for next month is to work on full laps at lunch time doing at least 3 x full speed full lap burners a week to build up my fitness and get used to riding full speed again! I really struggled with my berms today mainly because I am not used to going around them at full speed any more as I have been pootling around them on pump laps for the past month or so. Now it is time to start upping the speed to get used to riding at race speed again!

The other 2 days a week I need to work on my jumping and manuals on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th straights as I spend most of my time in the 1st straight as itโ€™s my favourite straight and I find it the easiest straight to ride. From now on I am going to ride 2 straights at a time to get better at the whole track as well as working on high speed berms more.

Thinking about it I think that I will do 4x half the track a week and then on Wednesdays I will work on full lap burners and then maybe one day on the weekend too. That way I will be working on skills and fitness at the same time.

As my season is over I donโ€™t really need to heavily focus on full laps at the moment although the next club race is on the 1st September so I would like to be a bit more race fit by then.

With the 2 straights at a time I intend to work on 3rd and 4th straights on a Monday, 2nd and 3rd straights on a Tuesday, Full laps on a Wednesday, 1st and 2nd straights on a Thursday and Friday and is gates after work so I can again do 1st and 2nd straights at race speed out of the gate. Then Saturday or Sunday I can do full lap burners again.

Next week I also need to make an effort to get up early and walk as I only managed this one day this week so I only did about 5000 steps a day which is well below my 12500 target.
