I woke up earlyish this morning and managed to get my Son up and dressed by 9am this morning so we loaded the bikes into the car and headed to Patchway for a ride on the track there.
We had a really good session and it was really good fun. Unfortunately the session was cut short as my back wheel moved about an hour or so into the session so we called it a day. I rode really badly and the bike felt really good to the first jump and then horrible for the rest of the track and my pumping and manuals were really terrible 🙁
I cleaned the bikes when we got home and discovered that one of the spokes had snapped where it joins to the hub which I have never had happen before.
I was going to get a new rim anyway as this one has been buckling since I bought it so this may explain why it has been going out of shape.
I am going to take the wheel off the bike tomorrow and remove the spokes and rim from the hub ready to get it built back up ready for the season. My friend has lent me his cruiser to test so I have taken it apart and built it up from parts from my bike and my Son’s bike so that I can try a bike with a short back end and 22″ top tube.
The bike looks amazing and I have actually been able to remove an extra link from the chain and got the brake working really well for once 🙂
I have just bought a 16t Halo Clickster freewheel to go on the wheels that came with my friends bike until I can get the Only hub re-laced. The idea is that the Meybo is the same size as a Pure frame which I really want to try.
