This morning I woke up early-ish and got dressed and rode the ebike to the track. I finally remembered to bring my foot stool with me so that I could use it to do sprints to the first jump:
Although it was really hot I did 6 x sprint stand First straights followed by 3x sprint stand pedal to the first jump then pump the rest of the lap to keep speed!
After that I was really tired and drained from the heat so I called it a day and rode home on the ebike.
The Stool/ sprint stand is now in the container so I can use it all the time when I am at the track.
Doing starts off of the sprint stand is really good as it gets you practicing over speed first straights as you are going faster than you would be out of the gate or starting from the gate as I would usually practice when at the track!
During the week I will also try First straight sprints on the flat using the stool and riding around the side of the start hill to make the first straight more challenging! And also do one day doing box sprints up the start hill instead. That way I will do an uphill, downhill and flat sprints session per week.
Tomorrow I am going to go to the track and start working on my jumping as I really need to improve that as it is my weakest skill of all and causes me loads of issues at Nationals where most tracks have one jump that you need to jump to be fast!
I will ebike up to the track again as it is a really good warm-up as it gets the blood flowing but doesn’t get you too tired so you can ride when you get there still which is ideal!
I am planning on going up earlier tomorrow so that its not so hot as I will be riding the tabletop on the 2nd straight predominantly and that is really out in the open with no shade at all so the earlier the better really!
