The Disk brake kit that I bought from Crucial on Tuesday arrived this morning which was a nice surprise as I paid for standard delivery this time as DHL took 3 days to deliver my last parcel when I paid for next day delivery so the standard delivery was cheaper AND arrived one day earlier thanks to DHL being so useless 🙂
I got the disk setup installed on the bike with very little issues at all and I was amazed at how easy the disk brake was to align! You basically leave the bolts loose and then spin the wheel and put the brake on and hold it on and tighten the bolts and there you have it the brake is dialled in 🙂 thanks to Barry Nobles for his video on how to setup a disk brake 🙂 The video made my life so easy when setting the Meybo up.
When I got the rear wheel on I found that the chain line was slightly out of alignment which meant that the chain was clicking on the chainring and rubbing a lot. So I took the wheel off and added a thicker washer behind the freewheel to get the chain in line and now it is really good. There is a little spot where the disk hits the pad when spinning which I may try and sort out later but it isn’t causing the bike to slow down so its not really a problem!
As you can see the bike looks way cleaner with the disk brake setup compared to the v brake setup. I am looking for some screw in bungs for the v brake mount holes to make the bike look even better so once they are here the bike will be sorted 🙂 The StayStrong wheels seem pretty good to be honest and I am looking forward to testing them out tonight 🙂
Coincidently I have just been on Facebook and my memory from today 3 years ago was a picture of the Meybo that I am riding again in the US apartment that I stayed in when I worked in Seattle and bought the Meybo to ride to work on 🙂 It looks a tad different now with literally only the frame the same as it was when I bought it!
I got the Meybo on the rollers tonight and did some intervals. I managed a 3 minutes warm up followed by 6 X 10 second efforts with 50 seconds rest. It was only half of my planned workout but it was a good start. I am going to keep doing this every week and build up to doing the 12 reps. My stomach wasn’t great still so I have decided not to go to the gym in the morning as it’s probably not safe to do so.
