Day 4 – 11/11/2023

So I woke up this morning and my left knee was really sore and my ankle was really stiff too so I have decided that I will rest a bit this weekend! I will still walk the dog but I’m not going to try and get the 10000 Steps today.

I think that I will need to re-evaluated my training a bit and just walk Mon-Friday for now and then use Saturday and Sunday as my rest days where my body can recover sufficiently from the weeks training.

The last thing that I want is to have to stop training altogether again due to blowing out my knee or any other over use injury.

It will take a bit longer to lose the weight and reach my target weight but I think it makes sense to workout less in order to be consistent than to work out a lot and then get injured and have to stop!

I think the rest of this year should be more about being consistent and building a base level of fitness and then next year I can start to ramp up the intensity and try and work on my performance goals!

At the moment my main goal is to just lose as much weight as possible and heal from my current injuries while building more muscle to prevent further injuries and build a base level of fitness that I can build on when I start playing basketball and riding BMX again!

The 3 months before the BMX season starts will be more than enough time to build up BMX specific fitness and work on track speed and bike handling skills again so I am not worried from that point of view. I am more focussed on not starting the season injured for once and being light enough/ fit enough to complete full laps of the track at 100% effort. This has definitely not been the case in the past few seasons where I have started the season really over weight and at about 50% fitness if that so far from ideal.
