New Cranks Arrived for my Curtis Racelite 24″

The cranks that I ordered at the weekend arrived this morning bright and early so I have done a quick unboxing and I will now get them fitted to the bike before going to the track for a test ride 😁

For reference here is a photo of the Curtis Racelite 24″ with the Promax CF cranks installed on it. For more information on the Promax CF Cranks go to the installation post HERE.

New Cranks

While installing the new DXR Cranks I noticed that the chain ring is rubbing on the chain stay which may have been due to the Promax cranks flexing a bit but it is too close to make me comfortable of running the current gearing so I am going to have to drop down from a 37t on the front to a 36t. I seem to remember Gary saying something about the bike being designed to run a 36 x16 so that may well be why there is no space. I should really be running a 36×16 anyway as that is the same gearing a large percentage of the fast guys ride. I have got a lot fitter over the winter so I think that my legs can now handle the spinning a lot better than they could before so I should be fine!

Cranks Rubbing

Unfortunately my 36t chain ring is at my parents on my Son’s bike so I will have to go over and get it before I can finish building the bike! This means that I will most likely have one more day without riding the bike so I will have to make up for it for the rest of the week.

At about 8pm I took a look in the garage and found that I had another 36t chain ring so I will fit it tomorrow and shorten the chain and then go ride early to get a test ride in. I have booked in for gates at Bristol on Saturday so I need to get the bike sorted before then!
