So the Avian 172.5 mm cranks that I bought from Crucial yesterday arrived this afternoon and I have just fitted them and also swapped around the freewheel as the chain was way too close to the frame the way that it was installed.
I’m really liking the way that the cranks look on the bike and I also swapped out the chain tensioners for black ones as the chrome ones that i had on there looked a bit odd with the black cranks.
Unfortunately I am not going to have time to ride the bike until Saturday afternoon as I will be clearing out my bedroom tomorrow lunch time so that I can install my new bedroom floor which arrived today!
It will be interesting to see how the Avian cranks compare to the DXR’s that I have run for years but I think that they will be pretty similar if not a bit more rigid. They also feel a bit lighter so we will see. I am hoping that they will be the perfect middle ground between the really good for spinning but not so nice for gates 170mm cranks and the really good for gates but not so good for spinning 175mm cranks. I may try and get out and do some sprints on the Curtis before work tomorrow to see how the cranks feel as I am interested to know but too busy to get them done tonight!
