Coaching Session Done

I did my first coaching session on flats and it went pretty well to be honest! I felt a bit weird on the bike for a while but I was getting out of the gate and down the first straight pretty well and didn’t step off of the pedals at all which is pretty amazing for me to be honest!

I am determined to stay on flats for the winter now to improve my pedalling for next season and get the most out of the clips in the summer!

While I was at the track I managed to buy a ride to work bike in exchange for a bunch of parts 🙂 Its an old GT Pro Series

I will run a higher gearing on it and get some leg training going on while I sprint to work in the mornings and I will slowly upgrade the parts as I go until I have a semi decent bike that my son can ride when he decides to ride at the track.

The current tyres are basically brand new Maxxis DTH’s so they will be fine. For now I will buy a new Halo clickster freewheel to replace the freewheel that is on the bike then the wheels will be fine to ride to work on. Looking at the bike the only things that I will need to replace when I get paid are the bars, stem and grips will need replacing although I think I have a front load stem in the Garage and I have some new grips for my e-bike so I will have some ODI Vans lockon grips for this bike so I basically only need a set of bars so I will get some Staystrong Flat bars so that I have the same bars on all my bikes. I may also swap the brake and lever for a Shimano DXR brake and lever as well to make all my bikes have the same lever then it will be good to go! I also have a new KMC chain ready to go on the bike too! I will use my long seatpost and seat on the bike anyway do there is no need to get a new seat and post either which is good.

I am picking up the bike tomorrow so I will check the brake over to see how it works and see what gearing it has on it at the moment then order a new freewheel and the bars then it will be ready to ride by the weekend 🙂

The bike has the same top tube length as my Curtis and my Chase OS 20 (21.75″) so all the bike will feel the same especially with the same cockpit on all 3 bikes.

Then over the next few months I will keep an eye out for some reasonably priced wheels to swap these wheels out for then the bike will be ready to ride for the next couple of years 🙂
