This afternoon I went to the track to test out the timing system but there was a connector missing so I couldn’t get it working unfortunately so I had to wait around until 1:30 for official gates to start.
I used the Supercross again as I didn’t get a chance to go to my parents and pick up the Curtis so the Supercross is the only bike that I have in one piece at the moment!
Gates went well and I was consistently pretty quick again even though it was even colder today than it was yesterday!
I am still not feeling super fast after my second pedal so I need to start doing spirits next week for sure and start using the Curtis all the time to get used to it!
I am going to try and do sprints on Tuesday and Thursday lunch times so try and work on my spinning to try and get my higher gear back as I don;t have it at the moment!
I am wondering if the lack of top gear is lack of sprints, the different gearing, bike related, using flat pedals or a combination of the 2. I am also thinking that I need to drop the length of my cranks from 175mm to 172.5mm or 170mm to get my spin back! I will stick to 175mm for now but I have bought a cheap set of Amazon 172.5mm cranks to try out. They will not be here until next month as I didn’t look at the delivery date until after I bought them 🙁 But it gives me time to play around with 175mm and 170mm cranks on the Curtis before they arrive.
The other good thing about using the Curtis only is that I can not run any gearing other than 36×16 as the chain rubs so it stops me second guessing gearing choice as well as crank length!
I also bought some new batteries for my timing system so I can start using that to make my sprints more effective than they would be without the timing.
For now I am going to do 12 sprints per session with 6 x 25m alternating front leg and then 6 x 50m alternating leg to finish as this worked really well when I was doing them last time.
