Changed training again!

So I have had to change up my training again as I am in no kind of physical shape to run and I am not losing weight fast enough walking in the mornings so, I have decided that for the month or so before I go to Brazil I am going to do some cross training in the hope that I lose weight faster.

I have decided that Mon-Friday in the morning I will go out for a ride on my mtb for an hour and a half instead of walking as riding a bike burns almost twice as many calories as walking does so in my fully open 1.5 – 2.0 hour window in the mornings I can potentially burn double the amount of calories as I would walking.

I am just about to get the mtb out of the garage and bring it into the house so that I can go out for a quick ride tomorrow morning as I have to go to London early so I will only have about an hour to work out before I have to get showered and leave for London.

Tomorrow I will ride through the 2 tunnels and back as a taster to see how I am feeling fitness wise and then Thursday morning I will do a proper ride. I am thinking that I will ride to the bmx track and back like I do walking then I can get at least one hill rep in a day so before long getting up to the track will not be such a struggle like it is now. Also riding hills also burns more calories as well so it makes more sense than riding on the flat.

I am also going to start walking early at the weekends too so that I can burn more weight than I would doing nothing. I have also decided that I am going to just do upper body weights for now as my legs are going to be getting a good enough workout as it is with all the cycling and BMX. I am also going to ride at the track as often as possible after work to make the most of the light nights as well.

By the End of June I hope to be fit enough to start doing some basketball specific training but at the moment it is not looking too lightly as my shoulder is still pretty rough!

This evening I have set up my treadmill under my desk and I am writing this blog walking on it at 2mph to practice using it ready for starting to walk while I am working from Thursday morning. This should mean that I am way more active than I have been so I should burn a lot more calories than I have been. The treadmill also makes a really good mat to stand on when I am not walking so it will make it way easier to walk and stand and way harder to sit as my chair will not fit under my desk any more 🙂
