Bristol Summer Series 2021 – Round 3 – 16/06/2021
I took half a day at work so that I could race round 3 of the Bristol Summer Series 2021 this evening. As I was on nights that meant that I would have to start work at 01:30 which sucked a bit but it was better than losing a whole day’s holiday to race a local race!
When I got to the track and started riding my legs felt dead still from the weekends exertion at the National races which was not ideal at all! After a few gates to warm up I decided to chill until racing to conserver what little power I had left for the racing. I got the easier side of the draw by far so was able to get a 1st in my 1st moto then take it easy and pump most of the track to try and conserve my legs for the final!
As it turned out my legs were gone when I got out of the gate so I got cut off down the start hill so again pumped the rest of the track to get 7th!
Glad I raced all the races as it was a good workout but I was a little disappointed about how badly I did but I definitely under estimated how stressful the Nationals had been on my legs and that I should have definitely rested on the Monday morning instead of riding at Bristol as I did! Worth the experience so that I know that I need to rest after Gosport for sure!
On a positive note I manualed the second jump cleanly every race so I am getting my first straight back slowly. I had to drop the pedal in between the first and second jump so I think that I was a bit slower so not totally ideal but at least the manual was getting better!
I also picked up my friends son’s bike to get some bits off as I am lending him my spare bike for the rest of the season so need to build it up on my day off on Friday ready for him to practice on it over the weekend.
Work was also OK even though it was manic all night as I got a few hours sleep so was fresh as a daisy when I started!
All in all a good night.
