Bought another Octane One Zircus Frame

I was on my phone on Sunday night and I received a notification that Wiggle had dropped the price of the Octane One Zircus 2022 frames from a super reasonable £179 to a crazy £110!! I decided I would buy another one and build it up from the parts from my son’s GT Chucker 2.0 and all the bits I have in the parts bin at the moment.

I went with a black frame this time to make it more stealth so that it can be left around town and not get bike thieves attention too much!  The idea is to sell the GT frame forks and other bits and recoup a bit of the money from the Zircus Frame.

My son doesn’t really use the GT Chucker at the moment as it was bought to ride to school on but he walks with his friends and his school is at the top of a hill so he is too lazy to ride it so building up another Zircus makes more sense as he can use it as a BMX track/ pump track bike instead and leave it at my house in the garage. As the bike will be in the garage I can use it to ride about on during the week too and maybe also to put the Swytch kit on when it arrives next year!

I am pretty sure that the only parts that I will take off of the GT are the wheels as the rest of the parts are pretty bad anyway so will need upgrading anyway. As I upgrade my Octane One Zircus I will move the parts onto the new Octane One Zircus to make it better.

Talking of my Octane One Zircus I bought a new set of Gusset open Prison 3″ rise bars from tredz on Sunday and they arrived Monday morning while I was at work!! Which was a nice surprise. I ahve now replaced the bent bars but I have decided that I may need some beefier bars when I start riding again so I will replace the bars and stem with the same bars and stem that comes with the Airdrop Fade as I tried my friends bike and really liked them:

Stem Burgtec Mk3 Enduro 35mm Reach, 35mm Clamp
Handlebars Burgtec 800mm Wide, 50mm Rise, 35mm Clamp

I will then move the Gussett stem and bars onto the black Octane bike as they are way better than the bars and stem that I have in the parts box at the moment. Once the bars are swapped my bike will be 100% ready to ride although I may upgrade the forks at some point as the ones going on the Black Zircus are pretty bad so will need replacing soon. I am currently leaning towards buying an complete new Airdrop fade jump bike as they have some in stock at the moment with upgraded forks so then I will not have to upgrade anything on the bike for ages and my Son can have my Blue Zircus and we can keep the black one as my ride around town bike! It will take a while to save the money for the Airdrop anyway but I think that it is the best option. The other option is to buy an Airdrop frame to replace my blue Zircus frame and then upgrade the forks when I have some money as I like the inbuilt chain tensioners on the Airdrop and that would mean that I could race the Airdrop next season if my shoulder is still sore!
