Birthday Weigh-in

I just woke up and did my birthday weigh-in and its not great! I have been off of Coca Cola for a week and have actually gained weight!!!! I am up to 108.3kgs this morning which is upsetting!

I am guessing that some of the weight is water weight as I have upped my water consumption a lot so I am drinking about 3l of water a day so the extra is good weight not fat! I can see that my body composition is changing and I am am much less bloated so I am not worried about the weight gain!

The latter part of the week I was unable to leave the house as I was waiting for DPD not to deliver my new stem so couldn’t leave the house! Annoyingly this has meant that I couldn’t get to the gym or go out and ride my bike which may also be contributing to the weight gain!

While I have been stuck at home I have been researching jump rope as a time efficient way to tone up and lose bodyfat so doing 5-10 minutes as a warmup looks like it will be a great addition to my routine and will hopefully help me get to my goal weight by July, There are numerous people who have drooped 100lbs (45kgs) or more in 6 months jumping rope for 10 minutes a day so I know that it is doable at least.

Jumping rope as a warmup also means that I will be able to do the same warmup before basketball or riding that I do before the gym so it allows me to have a consistent warmup which will hopefully improve performance and reduce injury’s as well as drop weight 🙂

Food wise I have discovered overnight oats and I must say that they are a game changer! You basically add a cup of rolled oats and a cup of milk to a jar and then leave it in the fridge overnight! The oats absorb the oats and you get a creamy porridge with zero effort. I have been adding golden syrup or honey and nuts to it and it has been keeping me sustained for about 5 hours! Added to this the cost is about £3 a week so way cheaper than milk and cereal! Next week I will swap out the milk for oat milk which will increase the cost a little but will make it way less fattening and will be much better for me as I am not great with milk any more and it gives me a bit of a funny tummy!

I am doing coaching at the track at 11am this morning and maybe gates after too so that will get some of the weight off at least.

I plan to go to the gym Sunday so that I can sign my contract and pick up my fob ready to workout early Monday morning and start getting fitter ready for the season. The first National race is in 63 days so I don’t have long left 🙁 and only 6 months until the Worlds 😮

I royally failed my 49m by 49 years old manual challenge and didn’t even get out for 1 practice session in 2 weeks 🙁 pretty disgusted in myself to be honest so going to have to change it to the 50m by 50 challenge instead!

Unfortunately we were not able to go to training today as my ex wife found out that she has tested positive for Covid so we had to take tests to make sure that we were OK and decided that it was not worth endangering others just in case.
