Woke up this morning at 5 with a bad stomach. I decided that it was better to stay home this morning as I do not want to be too far from a toilet!
While I was awake and not doing much I decided to rethink my training plan to focus more on losing weight for the rest of the year before working on sprints etc in the new year.
I think it will be most beneficial to reduce my weight before starting sprint training as when my weight drops riding the BMX gets easier.
I have set the goal of getting below 100kgs by the end of the year so I have 4.4kgs to lose in 2 1/2 months which is difficult but I think that it is doable!
I now plan to do a road bike ride before work for an hour or so and then go to the track in my lunch hour. In my lunch hour I will warm up skipping for 5 minutes and then do some dynamic stretched followed by a couple of pump laps to get used to the bike. On Monday and Thursday I will then do 10x pump laps where I can pedal on the start hill and on the berms to get used to carrying speed over the jumps. On Tuesday and Fridays I will do the same warmup and then I will do 6 full laps with 5 minutes rest in between. I have chosen 6 laps as it is the same as 3x Motos, quarter final, semi final and final which is usually the most races that you will have in a race. As I get fitter I may add a couple of extra laps in to make race days easier.
Wednesday’s I will rest at lunch time as I will be playing basketball or racing at Bristol in the evening so I want to be fresh for that.
I am also thinking that I need to get a couple of manual sessions in a week in the evenings and also try and get at least one gates session at one of the local tracks as well.
For the next couple of weeks I will have to ride the 20″ as my cruiser back wheel is buckled and it makes riding it hard and a bit dangerous as the brake randomly rubs against the rim. I am planning to remove the rim later in the week and then drop the hub off at crucial to have a new rim and spokes fitted so that hopefully the rim is ready for me to pick up before the Burnham regional on the 31st in case I decide to race.
The last race of the season is at Bristol on the 13th of November so I will need to ride the cruiser a bunch before then to get used to it again. Once that race is over that will be racing over until next season so I can focus on training and Bristol club racing until then.
