Backwards treadmill arrived

So this morning i had a lie in as I was going to go to the track at lunch time then I got a message at 9 am to say that my Slant fitness backwards treadmill was arriving between 11:30 and 14:30 and another 2 delivery were coming then too so I didn’t end up going to the track at all today πŸ™

I did however build up the backwards treadmill and use it for my first 10 minute session and the fronts of my legs are now burning πŸ™‚ I was only on level 3 of 8 too so I have a ways to go yet too πŸ™‚

I am just printing up a sticker for my daily check board so that I can tick off my 10 minutes a day when its done! I am thinking that I will do 10 minutes as soon as I wake up then its done for the day before I have even started for the day! As the treadmill is motor less it is pretty quiet so I can use it first thing and not worry about waking my neighbour up although I think my son will get upset if I use it while he is sleeping πŸ™‚ Today I literally put a 10 minute timer on the computer screen and walked until it finished and it was over before I knew it!

I am going to try walking on it forwards later on as I think that it will give more of a workout than my normal treadmill as it will be like walking up hill although I’m not sure that I will be able to use it while I’m working as the hand rail/ back rest will be in the way. I really can’t believe how much better my knees feel after only 10 minutes of light walking on it!

I also got my first parcel from Crucial BMX which was a 42t Forward chain ring, 3 sets of chain ring bolts and a set of Ciari headset spacers for my various bike builds! The chain ring bolts were on offer so I bought more than I needed to have some spares in the parts box!

This morning in a moment of weakness I bought a set of Staystrong Disk hubs for the OS20 build to get that moving and I am expecting the OS20 Forks and 3 x sets of Speedline 10mm chain tensioners to be delivered any time now from Alan’s BMX so I will be able to swap out the red ones on the Standard Cruiser in a bit so that will cheer me up πŸ™‚

Last night I was also looking for replacement sole kits for my Sidi clipless shoes but there weren’t any so I decided to get rid of the shoes as they were really good shoes but the rubber on the soles was really poor! So I was looking online and I found some Shimano S-Phyre XC9 (XC903) Gravel shoes These shoes are the top of the range Shimano shoe and are the shoe of choice for the pros at the moment probably because they get given them but they get good reviews too so I’ll try them out. Luckily for me they had a size 8 wide pair in stock for Β£65 off so I bought them and some new HT cleats to go on them and I will give away my Sidi’s as they have been really disappointing durability wise even though they are amazing when actually on the bike!

That is now me done with buying things until payday when I will get the tyres and tubes for the OS20 and pay to get spokes and build the wheels up then I will have 2 x Standard bikes to train on and race over the winter.

I have been thinking about my gym membership and I am going to cancel it and give the knees over toes program a 12 week effort and see how it goes instead. I have frozen my gym membership and I will pick it back up once I have finished the 12 weeks of the knees over toes program. I am going to swap out my days too and I will do the following in the mornings:

Mon, Wed, Friday = Sprints before work

Tuesday, Thursday = Track work while the mornings are light then walking when not!

I will then do the knees over toes program on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at some point in the day as its only 30 minutes so is easy to fit in.

Lunch times I plan to do track sessions Tues-Friday I will do the following sessions:

Tuesday and Thursday = Full lap efforts

Wednesday and Friday = Skills sessions with coaching.

Saturday afternoon is Gates at the track and Sunday morning early is my day out with my son to some track or other where ever we feel like going and its more of a free play session although I made a lot of progress this Sunday at Bristol!

In the evening I want to start learning to ride on rollers so I will get them in from the garage and make a concerted effort to ride on them for 1 hour a night to get used to riding on them so in the winter I should be good enough to do sprints on them when the weather is really crap!

So I got the notification that the Cult race frame etc has been posted on guaranteed 48hr delivery and the race bars and race pants and 18t Profile cog have also been posted and so have the Clipless shoes so I should get a bunch of stuff between now and Friday! The only thing that hasn’t been posted yet is the cranks which are the most important bit πŸ™ I really need the 175 mm cranks to be able to sprint properly but I will make do with the 180 mm cranks for now.

I am going to use tomorrow morning as my test setup day where I measure out and mark my lines and then test if I can do 4 x 30m, 4 x 50m and 4 x 100m sprints all in one session and when I get homeΒ  I will buy some batteries for my timing system and then use the timing system on Friday to get my starting baseline times and then I will use the first Friday of each month as my timing session so that I can chart my progress over the training block!

SO while I was walking on the treadmill to get my steps in my new Vivo Barefoot shoes arrived so I got them on and did the last 4000 steps in them! I am amazed at how worn out my old ones are although they are about 2 1/2 years old so have lasted well:

I am going to keep the old ones for messing about at the track doing maintenance etc as they are pretty much done for walking but I may try them as riding shoes to see how they feel although I am really liking the new 5Tens to ride in so I will most likely stick to them. The Vivo shoes are also good as outdoor slippers as they are really quick and easy to slip on to go out quickly so I may leave them for that!

As I was working i got a message that the UPS delivery that I was waiting on will be coming tomorrow now so I can relax for the rest of the night now as I have done my 10 minutes walking backwards and my 10000 steps for the day so all done!
