Back to BMX Training day 38 – 07/02/2024

So this morning I woke up with my alarm and got up and did my weigh in (back up to 106.2kgs which isn’t too bad seeing I had 4 x cans of Coca Cola and Chicken nuggets and chips!) then got ready and walked into the office and did some stuff then walked home again. By the time I got home I was on 7456 steps so well on my way to my 12500 steps for the day 🙂

I took a later lunch today as I was working on a bunch of stuff still at 12:00 so at 13:00 I got changed and went out on the mtb to Bitten and back which was OK but the Bath to Bristol cycle path is way more boring than the 2 Tunnels and i forgot my water as well so I was doubly bummer out on the ride!

The ride was 11.66 miles and it took me 1:01:13 for an average speed of 11.4 mph and I climbed 158ft. This is way slower than I was when I rode a lot on my road bike where I think I would do the same ride in about 45 minutes and average between 15 and 18 mph but I guess that road bikes are designed to go faster and the mtb seems to be high up and you seem to get battered by the wind the whole time on it 🙁

The advantage of the mtb is that I can literally just shift down into the granny gear and point it to a hill and I get up it! It may not be fast but I will get up it 🙂 Where as on my road bike, I have no front shifter at the moment so I have to walk up a lot of hills as I run out of gears a lot! Its a moot point at the moment as my wrist is super sore on the mtb so I have no chance of riding the road bike at the moment!

I am going to save money and try and get a front derailleur for the road bike and get it serviced and the front derailleur fitted at some point but for now it can stay hung up in the garage! For now the mtb is my only choice of bike so it will have to do and I will have to get used to having a lower top speed and getting battered by the wind 🙂 At the end of the day for me at the moment it being harder to ride is a good thing as it means that I am working harder and losing more weight!

When I got back from the ride I made some food and then went back to work for a couple hours then did the washing up and cleaned the flat for my 30 minutes and then chilled until 19:30 when I walked on the treadmill for a bit to get my 12500 steps in. I was done before 20:00 so I went to bed and fell asleep really early 🙂

I managed 12738 steps for the day!
