So I woke up at 5am but my wrist is still not right so I have decided for sure that I am not doing sprints this week! I will ride the mtb at lunch times instead to get some training in still but not hurt the wrist too much! I got up still land did my weigh-in as normal and I an down 0.1kgs again this morning to 106.1kgs so slowly dropping weight which is good! I’m still heavier than I was last Friday when I was 105.8kgs but I am slowly getting back there so I will get there soon 🙂
I have just received a notification that my Shock Doctor 824 Wrist support will be here this morning between 7:51 and 8:51 so lets see if DPD actually deliver it or now 🙂 It will be amazing if it does get delivered as I will be able to use it this afternoon when I go for a ride on the mtb and not risk hurting my wrist any more 🙂
I think that as I am off this afternoon I will try and discover a way around the closed tunnel on the 2 tunnels then I will ride to the track and have a look at what has been going on with the start hill as I haven’t been up there for a week now so there is bound to be a bunch of stuff been done since I was last there 🙂
I then need to come home and wash my mtb as it is minging and also wash my Curtis as that is also really dirty and I will then hang the Curtis up and get the Jump Bike ready to ride again next week once my wrist heals a bit more 🙂 I am thinking that I will probably do a few weeks on the Jump bike on the 3rd and 4th straights working on my jumping so that once my wrist is stronger I can transfer the jumping onto the BMX as I really need to get my jumping back!
I have been thinking and I may take this year off from racing to heal and just race locally for fun and train really hard to get in the best shape possible to go back to racing next year fit and healthy and hopefully way more skilful as well 🙂
I am thinking that I will spend most of my time riding the jump bike as it is better for my wrist and deffo better for learning to jump so it makes sense. I am actually thinking that I may walk the Jump bike up to the track at lunch time and leave it in the container so that it is there waiting to be used next week when I can ride again! I will also leave my helmet and gloves in the container too then I have everything I need at the track again and I can ride the mtb to the track and back and ride the dirt jumper when I am at the track.
As I am probably not racing too much this year I may as well start weight training for an hour a night after work Mon, Wed and Fridays to start trying to get stronger and prevent all of these niggly injuries that I keep getting! That way once my wrist is better and I can start doing sprints again I will get more out of them as I will be stronger as well 🙂 I will give my wrist this week to get better then start this coming Monday (12/02/2024) and make that a new habit to build. I will try this week to clear as much space as possible in my bedroom and find a way to have enough space for me to be able to use my Olympic Bar as at the moment there is not even close to enough room to use it in there! I will make that part of my 30 minutes cleaning a night so by Monday I will have spent 2 hours or more getting it sorted 🙂
I think that it definitely makes sense to concentrate on building general strength and fitness for now rather than training BMX specific at the moment as I am so broken at the moment with my niggly hernia, left ankle and now left wrist that it makes sense to heal up and get fitter, stronger and lighter before trying to get back into racing properly again at the moment. It also makes sense from a financial perspective as I have no money so I need to cut out un-necessary expenditure so not racing will save me at least £5-6000 this year on hotels and travel! If I can instead use the money to pay off debt and stop living paycheck to paycheck while still getting better physically that makes way more sense to me!
Amazingly delivered the wrist brace when they said that they would so I am all ready to ride the bike today when I finish work at about 11:30 this morning 🙂
When I finished work about 12pm I got changed into my riding clothes, filled up my water bottle and grabbed the mtb and rode along the 2 tunnels and then around the diversion to see where the trails to the left of bike path coming back into Bath from the big tunnel where its currently closed went. It turns out that the come out on the rush hill road so not exactly where I wanted but still way shorter than the published route to get back on after the closed tunnel!
I then rode up to the track to check on the progress and the start hill has been reshaped and has railings on it so thats pretty good. I think that the start gate gets put in next week then I think, then we have a 3 or 4 week wait to get the start hill tarmaced and it will be ready to ride 🙂
I then decided to go to Bitten on the Bath to Bristol cycle path which I did but it was really hard going to be honest but I made it there and back! All in all I did 17.86 miles and climbed 791 ft in 02:00:34 and an average speed of 8.9 mphs so I was basically only just faster than walking🤣
I then chilled and ate (a lot) until 19:00 when I went on the treadmill and get my steps in as I was only on just over 4000 steps for the day by then! by the end of the day I got to 12977 steps so well over my 12500 step goal for the day 🙂
