Back to BMX Training day 31 – 31/01/2024

So this morning I woke up at 5am, did my weigh-in (back up to 106.3kgs), got showered and dressed and walked to the office. On the way I stopped at my sprint spot and measured out and marked 15m, 30m and 60m so I can start sprints there tomorrow morning!

I am still deciding if I will ride the GT Speed Series to the office and leave it there after work tonight or if I will wait and ride it in in the morning. The advantage of riding it in this afternoon is that I can then walk to the office as normal in the morning and get my steps in as well. The advantage of riding it in in the morning is that I can get there faster but I will get half as many steps in 🙁 I will mull it over during the day.

After marking out my sprint distances I went into the office and did some bits and then walked home and started working properly. I also grabbed the GT Pro Series and my mtb from the garage and brought them into the house so I can check them both over before riding the mtb at lunch time and the GT tomorrow. I have hung the Cutis back on the wall for now as I am not going to be using it until the weekend!

I’m feeling a bit better today but I am still really tired which means that I will most likely not catch up with the missed steps from the weekend until next week when I am back to 100% hopefully 🤞🏻

I have decided that as I am doing much more exercise now that I am going to reduce my daily steps back to 10000 a day as otherwise I have to spend too much time trying to get my steps goal when I should be doing other things like studying, working on the house etc. I am starting riding the mtb on the road 3x a week from today so that will more than make up for the reduction in steps every day. It also means that I can be more consistent and do 10000 steps EVERY day not the mixed goal of 15000 during the week and 12500 at the weekends which wasn’t working for me 🙁

It means that I need to make a new sticker for my task board but I can live with that. The idea is build automatic habits so I think 10000 steps is more achievable long term than 15000 steps a day! Also walking in the morning should get me to almost 8000 steps anyway so I only have 2000 steps to get during the day to reach my goal! I am also thinking that I may use the extra time I have in the evening to start working on my manuals as I am not doing much practice at the moment so I need to start investing 15-30 minutes a day doing flat manuals in the evening to improve them on the track!

By the time I got home I was on 7534 steps for the day so well on the way to my 10000 steps for the day 🙂

I had to take a later lunch so at 1pm I got on my mtb and rode to bitten and back along the Bath to Bristol cycle path and it was really nice and relaxing! I made sure that I took it easy as I need to do zone 2 training for fat loss not my usual push as hard and fast as possible for the entire ride and get really knackered and really hungry and eat more than I burnt off! ALso my wrist and ankle were really sore so that helped me remember that I am taking it easy!

I rode for 1 hour and 9 minutes and travelled 12.18 miles with an average speed of 10.6 mph which isn’t too bad on an MTB! As I do this more I expect my average speed to increase over time 🙂

Just before I went out for my ride my new fitbit arrived so I put it on to charge and I will have a play with it later after work!

I have just been setting up my new FitBit Charge 6 which I got free with my new phone that arrived 2 months later 🙁 I am not super impressed so far as I have had to link it to another account as the fitbit needs full control of the google account to work 🙁 This means that I will lose all of my previous data as my gmail account that I have used for fitbit for the past 4 years or so will not work with the charge 6 🙁

To be honest after setting the new fitbit up with my personal gmail account it was actually pretty painless as it actually brought all my history with it so apart from a different way to login to the web interface there is no difference. It even brought over my steps from today so even though I swapped fitbit halfway through the day my step count is intact 🙂

After my 30 minutes cleaning I was on 10717 steps for the day and its only just gone 5pm. So I have had a very successful day task wise I have done I woke up and walked before work, I made the bed, I have walked 10000 steps, Been for a bike ride at lunch time and done 30 minutes of housework already so all I need to do now is a couple hours of learning and blogging and then I will be done for the day 🙂 I really think that the lowering of my daily steps from 15000 to 10000 steps a day will really help with my evening schedule as it will free up at least an hour in the evening where I don’t have to walk to get to 15000 steps! For example I would have still had to walk another almost 5000 steps tonight to reach my goal but I have got the steps in already!

For some reason bing ill for the last week has really killed my focus and drive to do the learning and blogging which is annoying as I was on a roll before I got sick 🙁

I will start off slow today and get back to into it by doing some simple stuff to kick it off then I will slowly ramp up again next week once I am up to speed and at full focus! I have a lot of little things to do so getting rid of them early will get me more focussed to do the proper learning once I am done!
